It is. I'm still hoping the Celtics can get Cousins & Aldridge. As currently constituted, this roster is a joke. First round, and out team.

I've never seen a team so devoid of upside and entrenched on the treadmill. I'm not convinced there's a single keeper unless smart learns pg instincts. Having an overachiever coach is completely counterproductive.

FA and a Brooklyn lottery miracle are the only chances. As pleased as I was to see LA pass on Okafor, they'll just soak up our big man FA options.

Ok. Last post for tonight... The one thing Ainge said he didn't want to do was end up with 4 rookies on the roster. I hate to be that guy, but, were gunna end up with 4 rookies on the roster. This draft was horrendous, plain and simple.

I actually really liked Rozier as a player, but people saying "he has Westbrook speed" need to cut the crap and remove the green tinted glasses. Marcus Banks had unreal speed too, and he sucked.

Danny Ainge has done a fantastic job accumulating assets. He has not done well utilizing these assets to acquire talent. This is not to say Ainge is doing a bad job, or that he should be fired; rather, he needs to accept that the job he did tonight was not up to his standards.

Yes, I understand it takes two sides to make a deal, but don't run your mouth all week on how you expect to trade up if your not prepared to follow through with it. I had no expectations of Ainge a week ago, but he consistently ran PR on how this was the year he'd trade up and/or make a splash. He was not prepared to follow through on the rhetoric he spewed, and that makes me disappointed in his performance on the job.

In regards to tanking-- yeah it's a dick punch seeing Justise Winslow go 10, knowing full well we could (and arguably should) have been drafting in that position. Oh well, you win some you lose some. At the end of the day, I'll follow Danny down whatever path he chooses. What's not acceptable, in my opinion, is playing both sides in his comments to the media. Make a choice, make it final, and do it the best you can. I don't want to hear peoe say you wish you missed the playoffs, that's just crap. Don't half-@$$ anything. And don't piss on my face and tell me it's raining.

I'm still optimistic for the upcoming year, though I fully expect us to completely strike out in free agency. I'm fine with marginal improvement and winning 42-44 games next year. But, for the last time, Ainge and Wyc need to cut the $h!t with the rhetoric they spew about fireworks and trading up. Stop setting expectations from your fans that your not prepared to meet. I wasn't in a position to be disappointed tonight until you spoke otherwise.

Sorry for the long winded rant.

I've been reading this site for over 10 years. This argument has done some ugly things to this site. People are losing sight of what is important, the Celtics. I understand the reason, but the debate should be over. Over as soon as Ainge traded for IT2, it was clear it was over. You don't see the value of the shift fine, but to actively root against the team you pledge allegiance to? It's a bad look.

The debate IS over.

It just needed to be made clear in brutal fashion.

And it was. Has nothing to do with rooting against my team. Just pimpkicking some of the low IQ people who spent a year talking down to me.

FWIW, Ainge would take the IT trade back in a minute, bet on that.

By "making it clear in brutal fashion" was your other goal to "make yourself look like an ****"?

Cause if so, home run!

I have no issue with you.

Probably because you aren't who I am referring to.

Cave has no conscience right now. Some Liu Kang fatality stuff. Hope humble is ok.

I guess I'm down with our last two picks. I'm not ready to call this kid Thompson though. Let's not throw that much pressure on him initially, haha, we'll probably get let down.

Hunter seemed a very good choice.

But man, 16. Weird night.

Goodnight, guys, was fun posting despite how things went.

Cave was the more civil, by far, in that "debate", putting up with foolishness for months on end. You bet he's gonna crow on the night he was proven decisively correct.

Hey noob... I think you have been a good addition here, but how about staying out of conversations that predate you by a couple of years?

The anti-tank crowd deserves all of this, even if we all wanted the team to do better.

CC, you know you're one of my favorite posters here, but even I, as someone who was completely neutral in the tank debate, think you're going too far tonight. You are doing exactly what you and the other tankers criticized the anti-tankers for doing: rubbing it in.

I know.

I started an account here in 2007 because 90% of the board was against the KG trade.

There's a thread right now where 90% of the board was against the Nets trade, that I was fully in support of.

Spent two years respecting people who wanted tank talk sequestered into its own thread only to have them come into that thread to post pictures of people with down syndrome and lecture me and others about not understanding basketball and being an inferior fan or whatever the ****.

Many were incredibly obnoxious about it, and humble was beyond an ****.

Given what an utter bloodbath tonight is, there's not enough sand in the world for me to kick in their faces right now, and I am going over the top to make it 100% clear that they don't ever need to do that again.

They aren't the better fans. They aren't the smarter fans.

We are.

You do realize this can't be quantified? There is no sliding scale to calibrate fandom. I would hope tonight would bury whatever pettiness was created on this site. Personally, I still believe in the process.

I don't like the Rozier pick, although I'll speculate Bradley is gone, I think Danny was on tilt. He was lucky that Hunter dropped because he is a keeper. Mickey is also a good pick. Why don't we debate the draft and various trades that could Ainge finagle and worry less about the sand on the beach.

"@masonplumlee: Thanks to Brooklyn for a great two years !"

Unspecified Plumlee trade. Knew their pick made no sense.

Not really. It's just chock full of middling talent, just like it was before the draft. We'll see how it shakes out with trades and free agency. I've seen nothing that moves the needle yet.

Exactly. There's no crisis happening tonight. Danny just wasn't able to cash in chips in a deal that worked. The assets are still there, the only problem going forward is that they will start to lose value if he is unable to convert at least some of those assets. A team can't hold onto a glut of players and picks too long without things going stale.

If he made a big move during the draft, with all the excitement and emotion going into, he may have been able to pull off a great deal for the team. But sometimes (most times) the best deals are the ones you didn't make.

Now comes the harder task of trying to pull off the deal in the free agency market. Still plenty of time to deal. The Team drafted well for their position and didn't lose any future picks.

I like how tonight the debate is "over". When you can't tell the strength of a draft for 2-4 years AFTER the draft.

It's impossible for me to say I'm happy about this draft. Simple as that. The only thing I can really say is it's impossible to field a unit with so many of the same position. Guys will be traded...I hope to god.

Return to Boston Celtics
