I didn't know small ball meant playing 5 guards at once.

Not really. It's just chock full of middling talent, just like it was before the draft. We'll see how it shakes out with trades and free agency. I've seen nothing that moves the needle yet.

Exactly. There's no crisis happening tonight. Danny just wasn't able to cash in chips in a deal that worked. The assets are still there, the only problem going forward is that they will start to lose value if he is unable to convert at least some of those assets. A team can't hold onto a glut of players and picks too long without things going stale.

If he made a big move during the draft, with all the excitement and emotion going into, he may have been able to pull off a great deal for the team. But sometimes (most times) the best deals are the ones you didn't make.

Now comes the harder task of trying to pull off the deal in the free agency market. Still plenty of time to deal. The Team drafted well for their position and didn't lose any future picks.

Yeah, I'm not sour on tonight either. I think there were a lot of unrealistic expectations coming into tonight. It's harder to move up in the draft than many presumed it to be. We're okay still. As far as the picks themselves go, I'm fine with them until they prove otherwise. We picked up a guy who can beat his guy off the bounce, which we needed, a guy who can really shoot, which is always welcome, and a shot blocker. I don't regard any of them as home runs, but they seem like reasonable picks for our needs. I'm sure Danny tried like hell to trade up for a star, but couldn't make it happen. I'm not surprised. Teams don't generally like to trade quality for quantity.

There are 5 positions in basketball and the Celtics have a thousand picks in the next couple years. Hard not to expect some duplicates...

If you're going to waste a pick, why not use it on a 7 footer? Especially when it's an area of need. I'm just baffled. Even more so if there's no trade incoming for this last pick or involving one of the guards in general.

Except there's literally like 7 guards. That's a little more than duplicate.

Brooklyn must be pretty confident about resigning Lopez. If he bails they are without anyone over 6'8".

On the bright side if a track meet breaks out at one of our games we'll definitely dominate it.
