The Knicks are STILL a terrible team... and Phil is looking to make the playoffs... Porzingis wont be ready for starter minutes until next year and I'm pretty sure Melo would NOT like to play with rookies when he is already 30 years old.

This pick seals it. The Suns are in a terrible position. We have a team that should build for the future and an Owner pushing a GM to "win now." If we don't be careful this thing could go Sacramento on us quick

Yeah, pretty much. Win now doesn't work very well. But Booker isn't a win now guy.
?
Maybe we still trade for Porzingis...who knows

Except we don't even have the luxury of a disgruntled superstar as a trade chip.

If you think the draft was depressing wait until FA. Lakers will get 1-2 star players and be playing in the Western Conference Finals next season against the Warriors. I really hope that I'm wrong.

I'm hoping that Aldridge or some other PF signs with the Knicks early, making Porzingis redundant and trade bait for a win now piece.

They still lack a starting quality PG and also SG depth now that TimJr is gone. We can offer both.

Bledsoe and their fill of SGs (Bullock, Goodwin, hell even Booker) for Porzingis and Calderon.

Bledsoe, Galloway, Grant
(Anyone), Shved
Anthony
(Aldridge etc.)
The Gomez guy

Not as down on this pick as I thought I would be, if certain things occur. Make this year a look at the future kind of year (I hate to use the word tank as you don't want that culture). The Suns should identify what players they want to go forward with (which they are doing for a second time, sigh). I am hoping Suns can develop a blueprint to turn into this year's Golden State , aka SSOL with defense. Change the culture back to team ball. Get or develop a PG that is a floor general.

Within 2 years I think this will be what the Suns should be looking at (assuming these players don't bust).

C: Len (Bogut lite)?
PF: ? All star
SF: Warren (Harrison Barnes lite) or Tobias Harris
SG: Booker (Klay Thompson lite)
PG: Knight or ? All Star
Bench: Goodwin as 6th man, Bullock as 3&D, and Brandon Wright as backup PF-C. Aquire backup PG and vet leadership

-That means the Suns need to unload Bledsoe, Tucker, and Morris twins for someone or something (picks) reasonable in return (not a firesale). I still see someone like Bledsoe ending up on the Knicks as he seems to be a better fit for a triangle (assuming he keeps shooting steady from 3), so hopefully make a deal for him.
-Not sold on Knight yet as a floor general, but if he works on his ability to run an offense and finds his deep touch again, hopefully a Steph Curry lite. Resign him and see what he can do. If he can only score and occasionally set up an offense, send him off, as whatever he signs for, should be a good value over the next few years.
-If Warren doesn't work out or Suns have an opportunity get someone like Tobias Harris.
-That leaves PF, hoping can set themselves up for someone like Ben Simmons out of LSU or a FA. They need an allstar at PF and PG. This will be the hardest part acquiring or drafting an all star type player. That's why they have to use Bledsoe, Kieff, Heat draft picks to help position themselves for that.

bigs still available:

Jonathan Holmes
Christian Wood
Robert Upshaw
Cliff Alexander

Enough upside there to take chance on one of these guys for our summer roster

Brooklyn will send Mason Plumlee and Pat Connaughton to the Blazers for Hollis-Jefferson and Blake, league sources tell Yahoo.

That's such a cheap prize for the good Plumlee. Would have loved to see the Suns do this, he'd have been a perfect backup 5 for Len.

Booker was the correct Pick, hands down. I think he will be a very good player in three years. He could be all star good in 5-7.

Tell the front office that. There's a reason we didn't make any trades in the draft and it probably has to do with the Suns front office thinking we got a shot at acquiring some talent in free agency. If we strike out, I think we might see some trades before the season or at least before December.

7 years, he'll be only 25...that's crazy!!

He has sooo much room to grow it's ridiculous. All he needs is decent handles because he shoots so well. He has the athleticism and size to be a good defender, I don't believe that he can't play D garbage. Kid is just 18. He is a perfect higher level role player. I really like Knight, Warren, and Len.....just get me a stretch 4.

As toucansma have stated..

Stepping back and looking at what McD and Hornacek are doing.
It looks like "Warriors-lite" as in same blue-print as Warriors.... except Suns dont have a Curry-like PG who is a ridiculous 3pt shooter.

Shooters
Knight, Booker, Granger

Slashers
Goodwin, Bledsoe, Warren, Bogdanovic

Defenders
Len, Tucker

Needs
A rebounding PF (David Lee?? or Love)

He needs to improve defensively... Steals, deflections etc. He wont get starter minutes if he lets his man score easily.

This. I didn't have Booker on my list, but it's because I didn't think he'd slide to us. If Turner was there I would've wanted him, but where we were picking with who was left, we made the right choice.

We go into FA with a lot of cap space and some very movable contracts to get more. I'd personally like to see us stick with getting a youngster who can grow with the team (so an RFA coming off a rookie contract). I want PJ traded, and maybe Marcus too.

Who knows, there's still plenty of time to swing something for Porzingis.

Also, I'd like to give Goodwin a shot at being our backup 1. It makes sense given our roster logjam at the combo spot, as Goodwin is more of a 1 than any of our other bench guards.
