We didn't draft Kaminsky, so I consider this draft a success.

The 2015 Draft Thread (Free-For-All)

Post#885 » by drewsprocket » Fri Jun 26, 2015 6:08 am

I like Leur as a back up for I remember he went on a tear and put up points when the Memphis bigs were out. He's efficient and rebounds average. I'd say a cheap version of wright minus a few hundredths of fg % but that's fine we're not going to pay wright 8 million a year to hang ten points in the paint at any fg%

Per Gambo, in addition to offering Patric Young a spot on our summer league roster, we will also be extending invites to Neon Boudeaux and Butch McRae.

Summer league should be entertaining. 8-)

I'd offer Bledsoe, the Morris Twins, and a future first to Philly for Okafor. I think he's the real deal.

Then we rebuild through our youth movement and cap space.

Knight
Booker/Archie
TJ/PJ
Okafor
Len

Our backcourt has potential to be deadly from the outside. Our frontline is solid as Len can protect the rim and make up for Okafor's defensive drawbacks. But on offense, Okafor can draw the double team and kick out to our shooters or dump off to Len who is money from 15 feet and in.

Youth movement! Let's do it.

I see an entirely reasonable chance that we end up with the 2nd or 3rd worst record in the West next season.

Nah

Knight
Bledsoe
Len
Warren
Morri
Tucker

are not playoff bound, but 2nd worse?.....Minny, Lakers, Portland, Utah, the entire 8 teams in the East that don't make the playoffs.

If Len and Warren get better and Bledsoe shows growth and he and Knight can complement each other like Bled and Drag did two years ago and Booker off of the bench knocking down shots......we are not playoff bound, but not horrible either. Plus if Dallas doesn't get Aldridge.....they are toast.

It would have to be Porzingis. He's the only player Phoenix would possibly want. Even Melo isn't worth Bledsoe, who is drastically younger and plays both sides of the ball.

Some thoughts:

  • Our winning percentage after the break was 35.7%.
  • The Jazz were the most rapidly improving team in the league. Their winning percentage after the break was 65.5%.
  • The Lakers will be adding the services of three solid players in Kobe, Randle and Russell.
  • As long as Dallas still has Dirk, Parsons and Carlisle, I don't think they are "toast". Maybe 35 wins minimum if they fail to nab any solid FAs.
  • Minny tanked. When you look at the talent they have, they've got a shot to be decent. Not great, but I could definitely see them hitting 30 wins.
  • If Portland loses LMA, I see them in the same light as Dallas. Around .500.
  • Denver will probably suck hard. That's the team I feel we have the best chance of finishing ahead of.

Everybody else is head and shoulders above us. Assuming we don't surprise everyone with a big move, I see us finishing in the 11-14 range in the West.

bwgood77 wrote:Lets face the facts. Archie was a disappointment at Kentucky and a disappointment so far for the Suns. He is still young though. I'm willing to give him a chance. But he has zero trade value and it's not like we can count on him for the future. When people say they only want to keep Len, Warren and Goodwin, I wonder how valuable they think Goodwin is. I mean he had some great moments, but it's going to take some more time if he ever makes it, and that is highly suspect.

I am happy with Booker...I think he will definitely contribute and perhaps be our shooting star.

Archie never really got a chance to play much though. In his small instances in the second half of last season he didn't appear to be that bad of a player, however he didn't really progress as much as I personally wanted him to from season 1 to 2.
He still has a ton of weaknesses. He drives to the basket with his head down. He only moves towards the basket, like when he is dribbling he is always facing the basket, Bledsoe does the same thing though. His shooting has slightly improved, but not by much. He still needs to add some bulk. Being picked at 29th though, can't really fault him, it was a good gamble. He still has a chance to improve, but I like Booker a lot. Complete opposite of Goodwin actually and I think will learn more rapidly from Hornacek.

If they were to move anybody in their Big Big 3, it would be Embiid.

Noel can and has played PF, so he is safe. Okafor is more offense than Defense, which would be perfect to have next to a more defensive than offensive PF like Noel. Embiid has been injured and sat out the entire season, and now he has had a setback in his recovery. Big men + foot injuries = Death in this league.

Also, his reaction to them drafting Okafor was priceless.
