what it seems to me is that something is wrong with Embiid in the scan and since he feel great with no pain they have no idea what it is and the doctors told them we need to go inside his leg(surgery) and see whats going on.
that's why the are looking for more opinions , they want to avoid open him again at all costs if possible.

I don't think it will work, he will have a procedure and will not play next year.

Very depressing indeed. This is a -1 for Hinkie for me big time. I understand you don't want to rush the process, but you don't have to act like we're some broke-ass team without money to at least surround our young talent with other competent players. Give these young guys some average talent to work with that can help them develop. It doesn't have to be this difficult or depressing for our young guys...sign some talent Hinkie.

Freak.

Honestly, end of game situations, he can be an iso scorer. He's capable of getting the ball at the 3pt line and dribbling to the hoop. All he has to do is get that foul shooting down.

I was speaking of it as a positive. It's hard to criticize the pick when Noel mostly played with Sims, Luc or Furkan in the front court last season. Okafor is a welcome addition. He is talent.

Oh, I see what you're saying now. Hinkie was referring to Nerlens? I thought he was describing who Okafor would be playing alongside this upcoming season...

Still think we need to spend some money just so guys actually want to play here and not feel like that kid with a rich dad who gets no allowance.

BobThornton wrote:All of this talk about the league playing small because that's how the Warriors won....

The Warriors went small because Andrew Bogut was playing like @ss. He was bleeping terrible in the finals before he was benched. If Bogut had played well, the Warriors wouldn't have had to go small.

And then the Cavs couldn't fully take advantage of it because Mozgov isn't a guy who can really punish you posting up. He can roll to the hoop, and is good on the offensive glass, but he doesn't have any sort of bevy of low post moves. He's more likely to travel than score if he tries to string together anything on the low block.

If you have a killer on the low block that demands a double team, it opens up everything on offense.

The other thing is that with Okafor, suddenly Embiid's foot isn't the franchise killer that it had the potential to be. We'll find out who can play out of 3 highly talented big men. We have 4 first rounders next year to find a point and some wings.

This is a good post. Imagine if Cleveland had Okafor in the post instead of Mozgov. He would have chewed up Dramon Green and spit him out. they would have been forced to play Bogut and probably still have to double team and it wouldn't shock me if Cleveland carries the momentum from their lead and actually wins the series. A dominant center makes everything easier. You don't need a bunch of dynamic wing players, just a couple who can hit open threes.

I think the FO had to take Okafor. IMO, you do not NOT take a player simply because you think you already filled that spot.

As of right now Embiid has played just as many minutes in the NBA as Okafor.... 0. If Embiid winds up being a bust (I sure hope not) then we made the best selection possible. Okafor and Noel could potentially lock down our front court for the next 10+ years. If Embiid is able to come back and play for us, look at it as a bonus.

If Okafor improves his foul shooting (if Noel can do it, anyone can...) he'll be an offensive monster. 20+ ppg easy.

I mean peep guys, just imagine the dominance of a Joel-Jahlil combo....jeeeezus we're deep...Memphis style basketball from here on out, I've been craving for a big for years and sam got us 3!!! Sams not a trend (smallball) follower. Bigs win chips...teams are gonna be shook coming into the paint. Now we can actually bang with bigs from the west. He addresses our worst stat-rebounding. No way we're last in rebounds with the 3 monsters.

Exactly right, same for next year as well. If the Sixers pick is top 5 and it's a center as bpa, you have to take him and worry about the fit later. Hopefully the Heat and Lakers, especially the Lakers finish in the lottery next year so then we can go after a guard or two early in the draft.

Appreciate it, hopefully we'll figure this out, lol.

As for your prospect, you should be excited. Porzingis is freakishly long and that length doesn't encumber him, he can also shoot from anywhere. You got a fine player.

Not like it means anything, but I don't see any way Okafor doesn't win the ROY this year. He'll have a ton of hype coming in, is NBA ready, and will have the ball a lot.

I'm excited to see how Okafor opens things up for guys like Thompson and Covington.

I still can't decide if Okafor is pissed about coming here or not.

I'm very comfortable with the Okafor pick since I have a feeling that Embiid won't play next season.

The fact that this guy's defense is, lets say, subpar plus the crappy Embiid news has me real dejected right now.
They say an analytics man doesn't have a heart, but I ran the numbers and nothing can be further from the truth - Sam Hinkie probably

Need to re-sign Brett Brown, if he chose to leave because of this taking longer than expected than that would be absolutely devastating. I'm on board with the process as long as he is tbh.

this guy is like Bynum or Boogie, except with his head on straight. give Brett a year to expand his game. his most serious competition in the East is...Joel.
