OT: DeAndre Jordan agrees to terms with Mavericks
The Lakers need a center. It only makes sense for them to steal our most prized possession this summer.

That's what Tom Penn said during the draft. If DJ wants to stay in LA I think he'll stay with us.

DeAndre please come back on a max deal so we can trade you for Cousins whenever we're allowed to trade signees.

Re: DeAndre Jordan's Free-Agency
To be honest, if he goes it leaves a pretty bad taste. There's very few places where he would've been able to be allowed to (try to) develop what are some pretty glaring holes whilst getting minutes on a team looking to win.
We've very openly said we want to give him the max, despite those holes still being in his game. I've been a fan of DJ over the years but if he goes I can't say I'd care to much for what he did elsewhere.
At least Elton Brand was leaving a bad situation...

Cousins doesn't get along with CP3 or Blake Griffin. He is a grade A a-hole. Yes, very talented, but I don't see him on the Clippers

You want Cousins they are going to want Blake. If you are willing to trade Blake that is one you guys.

Re: DeAndre Jordan's Free-Agency
If DJ is serious about feeling entitled to a bigger role in the offense, we're better off without him. He doesn't have the skill to warrant it, he's clearly too arrogant to actually work on his offensive game, and he's immature enough to be a locker-room cancer over this. I'd rather have the flexibility going forward than tying up all of our cap space in a second-round-exit core anyway.

Yeah, I love the dude and have a lot of emotions invested in him since he was a rookie, the man is top 5 among the all-time Clipper leaders in minutes, games, rebounds and blocks, so I'd love it if he spent his whole career here.
That said, he's an **** for doing the FA meeting tour that he's been reported to. I'm pretty sure he's gonna go nowhere, let alone the Lakers, but he should have some more respect and common sense than that. If he actually leaves in the end, it'd be pretty much Lebron/Cavs-fanbase-after-the-decision level hate from me, defo.
I won't mind if we dangle him around in trade proposals at the trade deadline after this. Not Cousins though, it'd be a pretty bad fit with us. No need to keep adding cooks to the kitchen.

Do you only want people who are nice, good in the locker room, not get involved in fights, and be overall Good Samaritans? They have a family-friendly vibe, and they invite their kids into the locker room.
The Spurs exemplify good character, but they don't bring their sons or daughters into their locker rooms. They have Gregg Popovich, a coach whose background with the military allows him to filter out distractions effectively, including keeping non-basketball affairs outside closed doors.
The Clippers don't have a military-bred coach; they have a player-coach who is more of a father figure. He's tough on his guys, but he loves them, treating his players like his sons. He saved them from the evil Donald Sterling during the scandal. If they traded DeAndre Jordan for superstar DeMarcus Cousins, would you think Doc Rivers is incapable of managing a malcontent like him? Do you think the Clippers will be out of control, taking sides in the process, and miss the playoffs completely as a result all because of Cousins? Would you blame Cousins for any happenings behind close doors if the trade went down?
Let's not forget, we already have a knucklehead in Lance Stephenson. What makes you think having two knuckleheads will be overkill?
The point I'm making is this: stop assuming that a replacement superstar will ruin the way you view your team. This is all about trying to get better, even if it means having to give up somebody you truly love. Love was one of many reasons the Clippers got eliminated. Doc loved his players too much. The trade for his son Austin was a glaring red flag - he did play better, but it was the trade itself that garnered the warning. He had Lawrence Frank, one of his closest friends, as an assistant coach, and his deepest in the playoffs is a 2nd round appearance. He caters too much to his starters because he thinks the playoffs are a starters-only league. He made DeAndre Jordan a part of the core so that he wouldn't feel left out. Love blinded Doc into making very bad moves that verified him as the worst GM since Isiah Thomas and the Knicks.
Maybe a trade for Cousins could make the team better. Cousins hates Paul, but that internal beef could make Paul and Griffin better basketball players. The only person closest to have challenged Paul might have been his "big brother," Chauncey Billups. They don't have a player like him. Stephenson may be closest, and the reunion with Paul Pierce may push the envelope, but I think the real player who can take it to the next step is Cousins.
Let's wait and see what Doc does. If he values love, DeAndre will stay. Second round best, maybe a conference finals appearance using the 3-1 series collapse as motivation will help. If he values power and redemption, he'll trade for Cousins.

99.95% sure he's on the record as saying his only beef was with CP3 this season and got rid of the idea that he hated Griffin.
We have experience taking in a guy that we hate/ vice versa.
No fan thought Barnes would work here. I thought for sure it would fall apart.
I can't speak from anyone else, but I fell in love w/ Matt during the preseason of his 1st season here…and he grew to respect Griffin because of his work ethic
Once they get around you and see how hard you work and how much time you dedicate to becoming a winner, you become more than a flopper/ referee worker to them.
btw, Boogie is looking for loyalty nowadays so they say.
Doc paid a mini-ransom just to make sure his son didn't feel the sting of getting cut from an NBA roster. We're the most loyal hound dogs on the planet.

Re: DeAndre Jordan's Free-Agency
i dislike cousins. but there's no denying his talent. i don't think he would have any issue getting in line. and with doc developing him i think he could be a 28/15 guy easily. he's only had a coach who's believed in him once and the dude got fired.
but i don't think kings would ever trade him here, short of getting cp3 or blake back. dj's not gonna be enough, and even then they just drafted WCS to either replace cousins at the 5 or for cousins to play the 4. i don't see how DJ and WCS would pair together, and a dj for dmc trade would be a pretty brutal message for any future FA's, especially if dj starts the season off quite well: you're nothing more than an asset to be used and dispensed with and we don't value loyalty.
doc's already gotta have a horrible enough rep with how he treated dudley and hawes. doing that to dj would be unreal.

The point is moot anyway because DJ isn't even considering the Kings as an option. The only viable sign-and-trade seems to be the Mavs involving Chandler and Felton

I said trade him whenever the period for not being able to trade signees is up.

Ideally DJ stays. If not, then I hope the sign and trade for Chandler takes place. If all else fails maybe the Clippers should look into whether Andrew Bynum has anything left. On a different note, I think a decent option off the bench for relatively cheap up front would be Amare.

Bynum doesn't care much about basketball. Better off looking at McGee than Bynum

Re: DeAndre Jordan's Free-Agency
I want DJ back simply because he plays D and doesn't miss games. I don't care for his attitude at all but he is a good fit for us since we desperately need defense. I'm sure Doc is more than willing to give him a bigger role on offense if DJ is willing to put in the effort and improve. When Blake was out DJ averaged 20/20 and could be a beast but the ball is in DJ's court.

Re: DeAndre Jordan's Free-Agency
How did things get to this point anyway? We could easily just offer DJ the max and if he wants a bigger role in the offense, I'm sure CP3, Doc, and Blake will work with him. DJ actually has a pretty good jump hook, we just don't get to see it too often. With CP3 and Blake starting to pace themselves in the regular season this could actually be a blessing in disguise. Still cautiously optimistic that he ends up staying.

Re: DeAndre Jordan's Free-Agency
i do not see cousins coming here or dj playing in sac town. cousins would be a terrible fit. not enough basketballs to go around plus he would not be happy if he is not the man. way to much drama. I was not happy about the lance trade and this kind of deal would make me question my commitment as a fan. as much as I like the core group, I think fans want to watch guys they respect and like as people, not a bunch of malcontents who only care about themselves. if dj leaves I would prefer the dallas deal without felton but another player. I really hope dj stays but it looks like he wants to get back to texas.

Lmao that is pretty damn unfair. Teams and fans purpose and dangle players in trades all the time but a player doesn't get a chance to look around? He is enjoying the process like any other player should and could. Only players that instantly resign have hurt value, looking for there first big payday, or have a small window to get to desired team
