Reggie Jackson's contract?

Post#1 » by bstein14 » Fri Jun 26, 2015 12:55 pm

What do you guys think he'll get this summer? We're just a few days away from FA and I haven't heard too much about any other teams having interest in him.

At what price do you let him walk and look in another direction?

Reggie will get signed long term here, and we'll match any offer he might get. I just hope he's ready to work with us and signs late in the process rather than getting a quick offer sheet and forcing our hand because he's only a 5M cap hold, which gives us 20M to spend in FA before we can go over the cap to sign him with his Bird rights. But if somebody signs him to a quick $14M offer sheet and we match, we only have $11M to spend in free agency and we're pretty much screwed.

If only we could have a jackson/Jennnings hybrid, he'd be amazing.

I really have no idea what reggie is getting. He turned down 12 per with OKC, but that was more an issue with his role rather than money. I also haven't heard any interest from other teams, so maybe that lowers his price? I dunno.

Dunno, but if he leaves this puts a lot of faith in Jennings health for one year.

I personally believe we should make sure Reggie Jennings is happy, before we do anything. He's the key to our team.

haha totally botched it...

I'm feeling $48 over 4 is the number he's going to demand after having turned it down previously.

I think $12 million is the minimum number we see. I wouldn't blink he ended up at 13 or 14 million over 3 or 4 seasons.

I would imagine if someone struck out elsewhere, a near max offer isn't something out of the question.

I wonder at what point Stan would just let him walk... I think it'd be bad for our franchise to match a $60 million over 4 years type deal.

He isn't signing an offer sheet with a any other team.

They already have a handshake agreement on allowing SVG to use his cap space and then paying Jackson a 13-14 mil per year contract.

Guaranteed.

Yeah, there's been surprisingly little noise on Reggie's free agency. Maybe its coming later, and maybe the league knows that there's a strong mutual interest to keep him.

I never really bought a lot of the noise about us not being sold on Jackson. I think we'll see a contract signed. The only question is whether or not we get to use the cap space ahead of time. I could see a team coming in with a big offer in an attempt to force our hand early.

Yeah I wasn't buying that either.
I think the league knows SVG had love hearts in his eyes when reggie was throwing oops to dre haha He's a 99.9% lock to stay in detroit.

Unless there's a huge gap between what Detroit and other teams are offering I'm fairly confident Jackson will wait a bit so the team can get in a quality free agent or two. He seems to really want to be with the Pistons so that's not a big concern in my opinion. For what it's worth I think Van Gundy will be offering him a max or near max contract anyways.

Is Reggie good enough... You guys like what you saw? I feel we still lack consistently good shooting from any one position. Every player we have added or are targeting are all described as pretty good shooters for their position

maybe i'm way off base... There aren't many PGs who are great shooters anyway, but has Reggie shown that he can run a team?

From the way Reggie talks it sure sounds like he plans on staying in Detroit.

Brandon Knight is staying in Phoenix for 5/75. FreePress is saying if Pistons want Jackson for 5 years, it will have to be the 5 year max. If not, Jackson will take a shorter deal with an opt out.

A good 15 game stretch is not enough to justify a 5 year max for Jackson IMO.
