Keep in mind Phil said he is not sure if he even wants to use up all the available money this summer and wants to keep options open for next year. This is key because if we still have extra cap space, we could use that as an advantage to take on extra salary in any potential trades during the season.

Melo will retire or continue losing here before he agrees to go live in OKC. If it's not a big city/big market...he's not going

his "injury" and contract/NTC are obstacles. I say "injury" because seeing how it was turning out I thought they said just take a rest Melo.
so of course the NTC makes the team choices pretty small. so it will be contenders with pieces they are willing to give up.
Trevor/Kostas/Terry and 1st round 2016/2nd rounders for Melo is fair. then trade whatever to get our 2016 pick/rights back as we are gonna suck without Melo.
Melo gets to play on a contender at 31.
we get picks and a young Kostas. also Trevor who won in the Triangle. besides Fish/Pau, the only players around young Knicks could get a cue on "how to" from.

I love this trade idea. OK it is not happening but still might be the best decision long-term.

Gotta find a way to deal Calderon.

Marc Gasol, Monta Ellis or Danny Green & a defensive PF

If a team wants Melo, we don't just take their scraps and be grateful. They have to involve a 3rd team and get some real assets.

Doubt the Lakers would like to part ways with their shiny new toy but I'd certainly love that deal long term.

As would I. A core of Russell and Porzingis would be pure basketball beauty

more importantly we doing the right thing by a player who kinda got shafted by two administrations

I agree, we need to get rid of Calderon to open up cap space. I just dont see how we could do that without giving up any assets.

I would love to get Deandre Jordan and Danny Green

Galloway/Grant
Green / Shved / Ledo
Melo / Lance Thomas / Early
Porzingis / Amundson / TA
Jordan / Jason Smith

Sounds great, we'd have one of the best über young backcourts in the league with him and Grant. Would be fun to watch. Throw Porzingis into the mix and In 2-3 years we would be formidable if this talent pans out. Would have a lot of space in FA next year.

it would probably make it easier for guys like lma or love or gasol to pick what team they'd leave for, if they'd leave their respective teams, if it means getting closer to a championship. maybe.

With trading away THJ and having an unsigned rookie doesn't this mean that we have 29mil in cap instead of 27? Draftee's can be signed after we sign our Free agents right?
