MKG will benefit from the recent additions more than anyone on the roster.

I've watched that video like 5 times. MKG was beaming with confidence. He embraced the spotlight and looked pretty damn natural doing it. As a huge fan of his this so awesome to see. Major props man you went from barely being able to speak a word on promotional videos to speaking in front of a large crowd at a promotional event and representing us at the draft. I don't understand how you could root against this guy.

^^^^ This. To me, taking Winslow would have only stunted MKG's progression and shown a lack of faith in him at 21 years old. MKG is the better player and only two years older. All the BPA bullshiz has not worked out for us. Now, everyone freaks out when we take a person that can impact our team from day one and addresses our #1 need, which is shooting/a competent big.

No one remembers the slump/string of games during the season when Winslow was a non-factor. His great tourney showing skyrocketed his stock.

Contract extension approaching. How much should MKG get paid? Will Draymond Green and Harrison Barnes RFA situations dictate the market for MKG?

Barnes definitely will.

Barnes isn't a FA...even so I'm not sure what bearing he would have on MKG.

Around basketball circles, not just the casual fan because even ESPN among other media circuits would agree, Barnes is considered a much better player than MKG. What price range are you expecting?

Personally, it's a bit sketchy on what to comfortably pay MKG based on his limited role in Charlotte's offense. I could very well see a situation where Cho may lowball him and the two parties are far apart in numbers, which will lead to MKG taking the RFA route in 2016 with the cap raising. I honestly think that'll be the smarter decision for MKG & his agent unless they fear his proneness to injury may hurt his chances of getting a long term deal the following year

Barnes have a contract extension beyond his rookie deal talk coming up in October like MKG

It'll be interesting to see what MKG looks like in two years a year when he's as old as Jeremy Lamb will be this year.

ETA: Got their birth dates switched, Lamb is only a little over a year older. Derp.

can't tell but it looked like MKG, Kemba, & Lambs lockers are all right next to each other from that video. if those 3 guys can reach their potential that's a great young core. big if, though.

I just view the video and it does indeed look like MKG, Kemba, & Lamb lockers are all right next to each other in that order with Kemba in the middle. I've been hoping and advocating for Charlotte trade for Lamb for the past 3 years on this forum, and it has finally came to fruition. Now, I'm hoping Lamb can take the starting SG spot from Batum as I believe he can with equal opportunity. For sarcasm sake, hopefully Kemba do another protest on Lamb's behalf to get him in the starting lineup the way he did to get him traded here 8-)

Kemba, MKG, and Lamb is a nice core. People around here should start viewing Lamb like a draft pick

lamb has been useless so far in his NBA career and has literally shown nothing.

Let's hope he can have an impact here.

MKG should demand a trade.

I'd like to see his contract progression mimic the Gerald Wallace ones.

His next contract should be a conservative number over three years, the third an option, of around $7mil a year. If he proves himself over that contract, he gets a nice big uptick in the following contract after that one. Something more like $12mil a year (if he's earned it).

About MKG's next contract: I'd say it should be between Shumpert's (4/40) and Draymond Green's (5/85), around 5/60. I'd be more than happy if the FO could chain down MKG to this team for the upcoming half decade, even with a 5th year PO. I don't really think that the conservative approach of BigSlam is needed in MKG's case, we only saw evidence of progression from him in the last years and with his work ethic I honestly can't imagine otherwise going forward.

I must add, that both Shump's and Green's contracts were insanely big, but that's the trend this summer (and if I think of it, in smaller size last summer too - Meeks, Gordon, Frye for example)

with the roster being gutted for more shooters while the guy with the most broken jumper stays on the team says a lot about what the FO thinks of MKG. He is only 21 but has been in the league 3 years now. I expect huge things from him this next season, it has to be break out time. Plus with the hiring of the new shooting coach, he has no excuses for his shot to keep improving.
