If we don't extend Biz the QO I'll be pissed. Not because I think it'll have that much of an effect on us next year (though it could), but because there is literally no reason not to. I don't care that we have a lot of bigs, we played Maxiell meaningful minutes last year because of injuries. We don't know what Al is going to do or what he'll look like. Keep the depth and give yourself options.

I call Bullcho on this. Marvin needs to be traded, for anything someone will give us that we can dump. Or ideally for a PG of decent value. Biz is far more valuable than Marvin, and frankly would love to trade Al also, but that's not happening.
Hate Cho.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Gotta keep him for depth, not to mention I think he is our best all around option at center.

I have to believe this is an exercise to drive the interest of other teams away from him, otherwise...yeah I will have no faith left in our front office.
There's no way they didn't notice that Cleveland took off when they traded for a rim protector, or that he and Tristan T. were the only reasons they competed in the Finals against the Dubs. Or that the Warriors never did anything in the playoffs until Bogut actually stayed healthy. Or that they would have never got past the Grizzlies without Bogut. Or how Dirk didn't win a championship until he was paired together with an elite defensive center (at the time). Or that the Jazz didn't take off until the emergence of Gobert. Or that the Pistons won a championship and competed for one for over half a decade with a complete non-factor on offense in Ben Wallace.
They can't possibly be that ignorant of the importance of good defensive centers can they?

If we don't keep Biz I blame Cliff. His inability to have even a mediocre offense outside of a stretch of Al hero ball is causing this. If he could design sets that use the player we have effectively Biz could be the best Center on this roster.

Re: NBA ChoK16 - the Rich Cho Thread
More than anything I feel bad for the Charlotte lifers who have no choice but to try to rationalize this. When was the last time a white 4 year college big man became anything more than a mediocre rotation guy? Cho has used 4 top 10 picks that resulted in 3 average rotation bigs, and one of those guys is probably on his way out, so it might actually be 2 rotation guys. 16(Grant) + Olynyk is way more value than Frank. It is arguable that Frank isn't better value than just Grant. The roster is no more talented than it was last year and Cho turned our future assets of Kemba, Hairston, MKG, Zeller, Vonleh, Biz, and the 9th pick, into Kemba, Lamb, Hairston, MKG, Zeller, and Kaminsky, and still didn't solidify us a definite playoff team next season.
The off-season moves have done more to enable bad coaching philosophy, that will likely cancel out any benefit there might have been from balancing out the roster more, than actually improving the team. I don't think we make the playoffs next season or the year after and are going to blow the team up again after Clifford and Cho get fired. Even if we sneak into the playoffs next season it doesn't really matter, as we've sacrificed our sustainability for the re-brand. The re-brand killed the rebuild.
All my enthusiasm for basketball next season has completely vanished and I don't even care to get league pass again to watch our games. You can say I am overreacting, but it is more the result of the culmination of bad management moves over the last couple years more so than just this draft. The draft was just a major wakeup call for me and there is no way for me to keep denying that this is a sinking ship. The only hope for the future of this franchise is that MKG and Kemba make major leaps over the next two seasons.

just wait for the league to change playoffs to top 16 overall, they're already making top 8 in each conference regardless of division. were stuck in treadmillville until we get a star or one of our current players exceeds their potential. the most likely to do that is MKG but i wouldn't bet on him becoming a perennial all-star, the other was Vonleh.....and we dumped him for a Batum rental.

Re: NBA ChoK16 - the Rich Cho Thread
Last year was the lamest offseason ever lol.
Vonleh? Gone
Lance? Gone
Marv? 3rd string PF or backup SF
Roberts? 3rd string PG or sadly the backup PG
Hairston? 3rd string SG
I knew I was disappointed for a reason. The best pieces that made that offseason respectable are gone now while the other pieces are hopefully 3rd stringers with no value on the trade market.

If anything it shows that either Cho don't know what to do with cap space or the cliche' that Charlotte is not a attractive destination for free agents so cap space won't matter and Cho will have to be at the utmost level of evaluating the talent of under the radar players that'll mesh with the roster

I had to come back into this thread to reiterate how piss poor last season's offseason was. Just the thought of it make me laugh and get upset at the same time. So much of my time was wasted hoping that roster could prove me wrong. I'm happy I gave up on watching them sooner in the season instead of waiting until they were mathematically eliminated from playoff contention

I like drafting Vonleh and still think Lance was worth the risk. Spending 10 million on Marv and Roberts was absurd though. We would have been much better off in every way if we just signed Tolliver, CDR, and a random PG, on minimum contracts.

Another mistake from Cho's summer of 2014 could be coming back to haunt him soon. This summer Brendan Haywood will be dealt to a team looking to clear salary. Rumors that Spurs could be interested, possibly with Splitter heading back to the Cavs. We gave up this asset for basically peanuts last summer in order to help finance a series of awful transactions.
Cho's disaster of last summer cannot be overstated.

I forgot all about that Haywood trade. We traded him for nothing to make space for our weak ass signings if I'm not mistaken. Just a sad disappointing offseason last year. We lucked into Vonleh and Stephenson who both had potential upside that we didn't get to see and now neither of them are even on the team but the utter trash of Marv and Roberts we are stuck with unless we take a worse contract in return.
At least we're doing some half decent things this offseason by acquiring Kaminsky, Lamb, Batum, and Hawes. I like all of those players.

Cho think he's doing addition by subtraction and that might work since we have a better offensive outlook but we'll see. I woulda kept Biz if it was up to me and found a way to trade Zeller.

To be fair, if not for the Utah Jazz we might have finished the summer with Gordon Hayward and Rodney Hood. Those players might have saved Vonleh and Biz.
