Welcome to the Nuggets: Emmanuel Mudiay

Possible steel of the draft at Number 7. Big, strong point guard who could end up being a top player out of this draft class. Now where does Lawson go?

Don't need to trade Ty. Mudiay is big enough to make the Lawson-Mudiay backcourt work. We're going to have problems shooting but I think we can be really fun to watch.

Yea, Lawson really is turning into a putz, he's gonna be nothing but a locker room cancer.

I don't think lawson needs to go. We can have one of the quickest back courts in the league.

This town man. The only reason it will never reach a title is turning on its best players and coaches prematurely. Ty Lawson ain't a fashion, he's a point guard that is running this team.

Lawson turned his back on this team. He's a loser.

I think Mudiay is the guy the Nuggets have been targeting and his attitude and everything he is saying seems right, I hope he will be a great player.

I still wanted some shooting to come out of this draft, but what the hell he is now a Nugget.

Has he? I have yet to hear he requested a trade, but really who can blame the guy? He carried this team for the 1st half of last season, most of 2 seasons ago, playing for a terrible coach in a worse system, after having watched a 57 win team's management implode and lose their starting SG while trading their starting center for a backup PF. I have had terrible bosses that forced me into choosing to leave a company, some I drank a little too much while working for them, in the NBA you do not get that choice to quit unless you force a trade, Lawson has reportedly not done that at this point. I am fine with giving every player another season to see what they can do under Malone, and what their attitudes are like in a year, after what they went through the last 2 years I think that is the right thing to do at this point, especially since their time with Shaw seems to have considerably hurt their value around the league.

I think lawson actions showed he has turned his back on this team. His lack of professionalism last year should definitely call into question his ability to lead this team. right now I think this team is more Gallo's team than lawson. I would have no problem moving lawson and inserting EM right now.

I have always been a big fan of Lawson but I think if we can find the right deal, its time for a change on both ends. He has never fully grown into the leadership role that this team needed from him. He seems to lack that ability as shown by his off court antics. Besides the publicized things like his social media presence and the DUIs, I have heard things about his interactions with friends of mine in the city that makes me think that he is very immature and pretentious.

I think he would be a better fit on a team with other veteran leaders so that he is not relied on for that role as the Nuggets have wanted and pushed for him to fill here. In a rebuilding of the culture of this team, his presence could be very detrimental, especially with the lame duck situation that the team has put itself in with him. Unfortunately that has to hurt his trade value and we will have trouble getting a great deal for him.

IF, and that's more than a small thing, Mudiay is really mature enough to step in and handle the main PG duties Malone likely wants - distributing and D - then the Lawson situation is pretty simple.

IF -again - he can be traded for someone of significant value to the kind of team Malone wants, he should be traded. If not, all this silliness about "needing" to trade him because he's a "loser" or he has done things so terrible that he has "let the team down", is just that.

Silly.

This town is ridiculous, I've been here for 20 years now. And I don't know if we're all alcoholics and have terrible mood swings everyday. But for **** sake have some faith in your team Denver. No city in the world boos as much as we do. We boo Kobe every time he touches the ball...I don't get it. We boo our team when we're down by 6 points. We give up too fast....What I don't think anyone is recognizing that NBA players are actual people and have REAL emotions, I think it's perfectly alright for TY to react that way. If anything he probably feels the team and management has turned on him. I'd react like a sassy bitch too if everyone was telling me I'm about to be traded. Trading a player that to me personally has gotten better every single year he's been on the nuggets is a stupid move, especially not receiving anything in return. Why do we send a player out to make another team better than us with getting anything return?

All in all, the Nuggets lucked out with this pick and we should be extremely blessed. Maybe we don't run this player out of our town like we do with everyone else. I think Mudiay can be a Dwayne Wade type player who doesn't need to run point but can when he needs to. I personally think all the Nuggets needed was a closer type player. Mudiay is that, He can get to the basket, he can create his own shot. He's a perfect fit with our team. Quit hating on Lawson, he's proved all the doubters ever since he came out of college and he will continue to do so. So let's leave it and support our team instead of bash everyone constantly...Except Melo, he sucks, stupid idiot.

Great article on Mudiay's journey to the draft, the more I watch his interviews and read about him the more I like him.

WTF ???? Where has ANYONE looked to run Mudiay out ouf town ??? Have you ever been to NY, they boo everything....Lawson is on an idiot roll, you act stupid you get what you deserve, he doesn't need to continue on with all these temper tantrums...hope your soapbox has a ladder for you to get down off of, it's a bit too high IMO.

There's a lot of what you said that I agree with, as somebody who's also been here a long time. We're really quick to want to tear guys down. Nothing angers me more than the "if I did that at my job..." that you hear all the time. Guess what? You work a job with millions of replacements. There are a couple hundred people who can play in the NBA. They can get away with more than you, because they're more valuable than you are. Plain and simple. Get over it. I'm also not always comfortable with the older conservative base here wanting to tear down young, predominantly African-American athletes because they don't relate to them, more than anything else.

All that being said, it's time for Ty Lawson to move on. 2 DUIs (that I'm aware of), 1 domestic violence incident, and what seems to be a complete apathy toward the game. Putting out that video is so shockingly dumb, I can't even believe it. It really is. This isn't somebody filming him at a bar, at 2 AM, that he didn't ask for. This is him, and his "friends", live broadcasting him torching his reputation. Some group of friends he has. They clearly have his best interests at heart. He very likely killed a trade in real time last night. You think Charlotte didn't see him on the internet, and determine it's probably better to back off and see how the train-wreck plays out? "Charlotte trades for Lawson, Lawson reacts in real time over hookah" probably wouldn't have been the headline they're looking for.

I'm totally rooting for Ty Lawson. I've said it a few times - I think he has some issues far beyond what we may know about. It's the only explanation, to me. The DUIs and DV issues are bigger deals than this, but this just continues a pattern. I hope he gets himself together before he totally rips up the NBA lottery ticket he's holding.

You just drafted a guy you hope is the franchise PG. You can't have him learning under Ty Lawson. You have too much invested in Mudiay to be learning from a guy who doesn't care, and other teams aren't dumb, no matter how much half-assed lip service we're giving to them playing together. Let's let the free agency period play out - I anticipate a team will want to add Ty Lawson if they're missing out on other free agents. It'll be a month or two, though.

Uh, it looks like Mudiay is going to be the point guard running this team.

Return to Denver Nuggets
