Not only is the triangle the worst possible system for Rondo, he's way overrated now.

Oh yeah forgot about the triangle.

Eh Rondo has had a down year but I think he is much more underrated currently. Much better player than what Knicks have now at PG and is one of the few guys that has genuine synergy with Melo imo.

Can make Porzingis life easier with pinpoint passes and lobs, can work good pick and pops with David West. Pretty good defensive player so you got a good 1 & 5 defensively holding things down for the present.

But yeah forgot about the illuminati triangle

I honestly think he's been on the downslide the since before this season (when he showed up only on national TV). He pounds the ball for HUGE chunks of the shot clock, is afraid to take jumpers, Carlisle couldn't implement him into the Mavs offense (and he's one of the top coaches in the NBA, especially on the offensive side), and he takes too many plays off defensively / takes too many risks.

It's an easy pass even without the triangle. The triangle just puts it over the top.

So we're going to pay near max $ to Tobias to compete with Cleanthony for Melo's backup, or do you believe Tobias and Melo can actually start together without losing too much on defense?

I think he's gotta be in a system where he can improvise more. I think he was still a pretty good player with the celtics, although his greatest season to date was a couple years ago in 2012 when he went completely nuts vs the Heat in the playoffs. Best statistical season was in 2012-2013 so I don't think he's done yet.

When he got traded to Dallas, Rondo was still regarded relatively highly and perception of him completely crashed as a Mav. I don't think Rondo is ever scared or afraid on the court, just was hesitant to do certain things on the Mavs. Don't think he really was given the right pieces to play around in Boston after the big 3 broke up either. I can see Rondo and Melo rejuvenating each other's careers and Rondo is turning 29 so it's not like age is a factor. Knicks are going to have a bunch of shooters and scorers but nobody to set the table...

Again I'd argue that Rondo is far superior to anything Knicks have at PG right now, he wants a short term deal and can be had for relatively cheap, so why not? (Assuming Phil can relax on the triangle concept to maximize talent on his roster)

I think Deandre stays with LAC, however if they mess up negotiations- he might not want to stay and they might not being willing to work with Dallas on a S&T (although they should try to get a double S&T for Tyson). If all of that happens, I see NY as a more realistic option than LAL or MIL. Both will have space but I think LAL will be too concentrated on the bigger FA targets (Love/LA) and MIL will hesitate to give him a MAX deal (especially if they get a crazy offer sheet on Middleton). NY can also help cause the latter, as we should pursue Middleton (although I wouldn't want to give him over $12 mil/year).

the magic are an interesting team to here. I assume orlando wanted Porzingis and when they found out the knicks were taking him in front of them they probably called to see what it would take to move up 1 spot. I assume the knicks and Phil were just too high on Porzingis to not want to drop.

Really must mean they didn't like Mudiay much at all.

Don't know if it's been discussed but what about Jose for Taj Gibson. Maybe add some second rounders in there to sweeten the deal.

Bulls got a logjam at the power forward position now with gasol, mirotic, and now bobby Portis which makes at least one of them expendable. They also have a need for a back up point and some offensive help in the backcourt. Taj has also just had ankle surgery and they got rid of the head coach that loves him making him the odd man out in a sense. He's also been seeking a starting position which we can provide for him.

Jose makes sense as they are in win now mode and aren't particular looking at making free agency moves in the near future. This also gives Pau a spainard backcourt mate that he has chemistry with. This also gives us the ability to bring Porzingis slowly and have a defensive PF with Monroe.

They only can begin talking the 1st, can't officially sign anything until the 10th - only can agree in principle.

A hornets fan came on one of the threads and asked if the knicks would trade jose for marvin williams's expiring contract. Doesn't help us now, unless we can flip the expiring for a TpE or 2nd rounder, but it might be worth exploring

This is the trade that needs to be made. Would attach Galloway to make it happen.
