^Sure they will. They keep the asset they could trade next off-season when the cap explodes and everybody has money and not enough FA's to go around. Teams don't give away assets for free. He keeps the pressure off Hezonja and Gordon this season, and then would be very good trade bait as a 23 yr old SF/PF.

Why wouldn't they just match him? What do they have to lose?

They aren't going anywhere anytime soon might as well keep a 22 year old wing player who easily could net you a top ten pick next year at the draft

^Same advice Stan and Co should have followed last season with Monroe - gave him the money he wanted to lock him down with the idea you could always trade him if it didn't work out. Imagine what we could have traded him for this off-season - in the very least I think we could have traded up to #4.

Cap space. I don' tthink the magic want to be the Minny of the East. i do believe they want to win. Are they going to waste their time and money on Harris when they have clear talent waiting, or address needs else where. Yes i understand teams can exceed the cap on their own FA, however that's with the assumption the remainder of their teams salary is already set.

This! It's foolish to let young productive guys, leave for nothing.

i do think theirs value in having flexbility in FA. Matching any offer for Harris simply "to get something" limits your flexbility and depending on when that signing happens your cap space.

Teams not matching restricted free agents is something that happens from time to time.

Its possible. Its not something to bet on, though. Most recent example was Chandler Parsons, but that was a totally different situation.

do teams have to wait 3 days, or can they match offers outright?

Teams can match an offer sheet at any time.

They have a 3 day window. They can match outright, but have no incentive to do so. Generally speaking they wait until the last minute though, it acts as a deterrent because teams are afraid to have their cap space tied up while plans B and C sign deals with other teams.

Going after him and signing him to an offer sheet is a calculated risk, there's no doubt about that. Management will have to weigh that risk. Deciding not to go after him and chasing UFAs like Carroll and Green who could well end up signing elsewhere has its risks, too.

I'm happy to hear we're interested in the young guy Tabias! He's not worth a max deal, but you gotta offer big cash so hopefully the Magic won't match.

Now see, this is why I was so against the Illyasova deal. We could have used that 8mil on Tobias Harris and still had cap space available to persuade Monroe to stay (yes, I still hope he'll stay).

We could've rolled with a strict Harris/Monroe/Drummond front-court with Harris playing 3/4. A Jennings/Jackson/Harris/Monroe/Drummond starting five looks damn good on paper man! @ElectricMayhem, don't forget your thread called "The Pick5 Contest". 8-)

That's not a option because Moose is definitely gone.

Any shooter is a good fit for this team now. With RJ, Drummond, and now SJ, there are guys to collapse the defense. Any player who can defend and spot up shoot is a good fit. I don't see why a player who shot well last year would shoot worse on the Pistons next season. Danny Green, Harris, and Carrol are all good fits.

After watching the playoffs, people still want a slow, plodding forward with no shot, average offensive efficiency and below average defense?

No shot? How so? And he's above average in terms of quickness for a 4.

Hes definitely not slow or plodding for a 4. I don't get this. You actually won't find a legit PF that's quicker than him. If you watch him you'd know he moves like a wing.
