Is he a SF or SG him and Carroll is the guys svg seem to be going after to be our starting SF

In the past few years he's split his minutes at SG-SF roughly 60-40.

I think I might almost prefer him to Carroll, just in terms of him being a little younger, likely cheaper and being a better shooter. Carroll is better at creating offense though.

If we land one of those two I would be ecstatic.

I see Danny Green as much more of an SG than an SF. But I think he'd be able to play SF well (except for when he's going against Melo, LeBron, or other giant SFs). That said, if we were to sign him (assuming his contract is for no more than 8-10mil per, and in the 2-4 years range) I'd wanna make Green the starting SG and still try and get DeMarre to be our starting SF. Then we could trade Meeks and have KCP back up Green, which I like a lot. Especially since Green is an elite 3 point shooter, which KCP is no where near being right now. I still really like KCP, but Green would be a big upgrade over him in the starting lineup.

He can play both spots. Best choice in my opinion. After taking Johnson over Booker, we are going to need an elite shooter somewhere in the lineup or there wont be enough spacing for Drummond and Jackson to run their pick and roll. Carroll and Harris proved to be efficient shooters last year, but they are not elite shooters. Green has proven elite shooting going back to college. He shoots a better percentage from three for his career than both, on over twice as many per game.

Three players have had at least 100 threes on 40-plus percent shooting in each of the last four seasons: Kyle Korver, Klay Thompson and Green. The latter's 44.9 percent conversion rate on catch-and-shoot triples ranked seventh out of the 75 players who attempted at least three such shots per game.

Green isn't just a good shooter; he's a great one. That alone puts him in exclusive company, but his play at the opposite end is what really separates himself from his shot-chucking peers.

"Green is one of 57 players who made at least 100 three-pointers during the regular season," noted the San Antonio Express-News' Dan McCarney. "Twelve of those players, including Green, shot 40 percent or better. One, league MVP Stephen Curry, had more defensive win shares than Green's 3.9. None had a better defensive rating than Green's 100."

That is the type of shooter we need. Carroll or Harris making 1 or 2 threes here and there wont be enough. We need a guy like Green who can make four or five any given night and commands attention at all times because of it. You can sag off Carroll and Harris onto Drummond occasionally without worrying too much. You cant leave Green unguarded from three ever or you will pay. That is the kind of spacer Drummond needs around him on the perimeter.

He can start at SF until Johnson is ready and then move to SG if KCP and Johnson dont provide enough spacing together. Or he will be an excellent shooter off the bench if they do. He is the best fit for what we need and will likely be the cheapest of the three too.

Danny Green of the Spurs?! Why, in 7 postseason games this past year he only averaged 8.3 pts on .344 shooting. He averaged 1.7 threes on 5.6 attempts, .300 3 pt shooting, and .6 - .9 on FTs, .667 FT shooting? My goodness, he $ucks!

Of course, drawing conclusions about a player based on a small sample size might be unsupportable.

I'd love to add him to the roster, I wonder if there's a real opportunity to pry him away from San Antonio though
