I am concerned about Noel getting pulled away from the basket on defense. If Okafor is in shape, any chance he guards 4's?

If he is a poor defender, I rather him defender poorly with Noel behind him than defend poorly with no one behind him.

Answer me this...I understand we aren't going to waste money on free agents and lose that flexibility. ... but are we atleast going to try and win games this year? Ala... hinkie is in operation lose as many games as possible, and trades away guys at the trade deadline to make sure of it. You see the disgust at what were doing across the league... if we intentially do it again, itll get 10x worse. Id rather not sign big free agents (we couldnt if we wanted to), but still try to win. We will still stink, but maybe get some rep back as a good defensive, young team, with good big men. Take best available guard/wing in the draft, and then try to start throwing money around. Im sure some think "who cares what people think...it does matter in regards to signing free agents when the time comes, especially with our current reputation

We have no one left to trade that effects our win total imo. We aren't going to trade Noel to lose more games, thats for sure.

I had no problem trading Hawes and Turner at the deadline. I didn't have a problem trading mcw either, given what we got for him.

There are no more players on the team with any trade value that aren't part of the future so making the team worse on purpose isn't really possible.

We will be a better team this year for sure, but if Embiid doesn't play, then I am thinking that 30 wins probably isn't very likely.

25-27 is my guess.

I hear the turner hawes part... but depending on what the Lakers do in free agency, that pick could lose a ton of value. I didn't mind the trade at all... and it honestly more importantly solidified us Okafor at number 3... he just needs to understand the other parts of the equation of going about business that way.

I think at this point it is fair to start questioning Hinkie from a business pov.

Why be such a stickler with cap space if your not going to do anything with it?

Would it have hurt anything to give KJ a bit more on his rookie deal? I obviously don't know what he wanted but I have to think a couple hundred thousand would have went a long way, where as it didn't do anything for the team.

From a pure business perspective going forward why wouldn't it make sense to give a bit of the money to guys on the team and make the players and agents happy? As opposed to paying Mcgee not to play here.

I love how Okafor seems so lethargic except when he's playing basketball. He exudes joy when he's on the court, it really seems quite evident that it's his life passion.

Hey guys, as you probably know by now I love the Okafor pick, so excited to see him out there this season.

My question, does Okafor have any mid/FT jump shot range? Lots of comparisons to Duncan, but Duncan always had that mid range J ...Watching high lights I do see it, but really only shows the makes...How did he shoot % wise with those types of shots?

i think he can grow to have Duncan mid range yes. Not a number one weapon but the type that if you give it to him you'll pay.

Awful free throw shooter (51%). Only took 5 total jumpshots in college.

what do you qualify as jump shots? I've seen him make at least 10 in highlight films alone.

Ya know, I hope we find a way to keep all three big men. They can all get their minutes, and if someone gets hurt we've got another one to fill the void. Noel can be a defensive star, Okafor an offensive star, and Embiid a two way star. Will any of them reach that potential? I don't know, but I know that if they stick around and develop a good relationship with each other, they can help each other get better.

Noel can make his offensive game better by practicing with Okafor and Embiid. Okafor can make his defensive game better by practicing with Noel and Embiid.

Odds are one of them get traded, and I would've loved to get Russell, but there are some interesting outcomes if all three stay and play to their potential eventually.

ESPN ran an article before the draft saying he lost weight training before the draft. Improved his speed laterally and increased his standing vertical by 2.5 inches and max vertical by 4 inches according to the article. Trained at P3.

Looking back at more Okafor stuff, he really is an amazing ballhandler for a big man, both with his passing (more efficient than flashy) and his dribbling from both face up and back to the basket positions as well as dribbling out of double teams.

As for a jumpshot, I love the fact that he knows how to use the glass. Like many other things he does that is a lost art for most players now.

I wonder if the foul shooting is the same issue Shaq had with difficulty because his hands are almost too big. He has a very soft touch everywhere else, I think he can improve that over time to around 70%.

Defensively he looks decent as a one on one post defender, though getting in top shape will help that. I don't she him ever being the pure help defender that Noel and Embiid can be, but if he stays near the rim he can defend it well enough, a nice fit with Noel working on D from outside in and off the weakside.

Not a perfect player, but damn, he's good.
