Orlando Summer League Thread (July 4th - 10th)

Summer League is right around the corner, so thought I'd get a thread started. We have two summer league teams, white and blue - I don't know who's playing for each.

“We’ll have one team wearing white jerseys and one team wearing blue,” Hennigan said. “We haven’t divvied up the teams 100 percent yet. I think the vision is to have most of our roster players playing together and to have that second team to scout some players that we’ve been following closely all season long whether it be through the D-League or overseas.”

Confirmed Players

Elfrid Payton
Aaron Gordon
Mario Hezonja* (depending on buyout / rest)
Tyler Harvey
Devyn Marble
Chris Singleton
Scottie Wilbekin
Jordan Sibert
Jabril Trawick
TaShawn Thomas
Youssou Ndoye

Keith Appling

Why doesn't Orlando's league ever get any good young teams??

And why does the NBA only advertise the Vegas league??

1) because Orlando is on the East Coast....the better young teams are typically in the Midwest or west and opt for Vegas (Milwaukee, Minny) for travel reasons likely and we get NYK, Detroit, Charlotte

2) because the league isn't open to fans it isn't advertised much. The Magic dudes should just do it at Wide World of Sports honestly and turn it into a cash generating event...it is the lamest league there. Sucky commentary, pitiful camera angle, ratchet teams

I wonder why the Magic won't hold the SL in the arena itself and let fans come and watch. So much more fun and makes it more exciting.

Agreed on both counts.

We have wilbekin on our sl roster? He is a gritty defender that sets the table well...can't wait to watch him play....he is going to make it tough on other SL p.gs

SW had a pretty bad SL last year, hopefully a MVP of the AUS. league has given him confidence. I think he is still only like 22-23 Y.O.

I think overseas will be his bread and butter for the long haul. He can still rack up coin. He can't stop a professional NBA one and cannot score over a pro one

I'm keeping my eye on Youssou Ndoye. Big center with some actual skill. Averages 10/10/2.5 blks his last year. The only highlight video out there is from 2 years ago, and in those videos alone, I'd take him over Dedmon. If he made improvements, then he should be worth a camp invite.

Spurs interviewed him, and have him playing for their summer league in Vegas.

If he impresses, can't let him leave Orlando without an offer.

Jabril Trawick thats the kid I'm going to be watching because he has a full gas tank at all times, this kid goes hard every time all the time on the court. He is also a good scorer with a decent shot so I think he has a good chance to be brought onto our d-league team and see what he does there.

No they're not scheduled to, but they could play each other on the championship day if they end up seeded against each other.

When LeBron was drafted they had it at the old O-Rena and I went to watch, D Wade was there too. The highlight of that was Britton Johnsen dunking over LeBron lol. They only did it public to cash in on the fact that LeBron was playing in it I'm sure they haven't done it since.

Sweet! Hopefully we can give him some burn. He is like a homeless man's Ibaka. Blocking shots is his bread and butter, has a developing mid range game as well. Good on the offensive boards. He will probably end up playing euro ball but im glad we're bringing him in.
