I think the best plan of attack is a S&T with Orlando to get Harris. If they're on the fence about matching, given them a little something to help them decide to let him go. Lotto protected first (ie top 14) is a good deal for us still IMO because we only lose the pick if we make the play-offs. Say Harris was signed long term and Orlando asked for a 16th overall pick for him - would we do it? What pick did Tim Hardaway Jr get moved for this recent draft?
If we are offering the same amount as Boston , I have a hard time believing Harris wants to play for Boston over us. Our system is much more Taylor'd to his playing style. Yes I am bias d but Boston doesn't have a clear direction . Just a lot of good pieces
Detroit vs Everybody
Players don't always think like that, though.
Agents do. And I think players do as well - I mean we saw draft picks not working out for teams who they felt they didn't fit with. Harris is 22yo, on a four year deal he comes out on the other end 26-27yo looking for another big time contract, if he lands now in the proper situation he could make himself a max player or at least make more money on his next contract if he lands in the right situation now.
