I think the best plan of attack is a S&T with Orlando to get Harris. If they're on the fence about matching, given them a little something to help them decide to let him go. Lotto protected first (ie top 14) is a good deal for us still IMO because we only lose the pick if we make the play-offs. Say Harris was signed long term and Orlando asked for a 16th overall pick for him - would we do it? What pick did Tim Hardaway Jr get moved for this recent draft?

If we are offering the same amount as Boston , I have a hard time believing Harris wants to play for Boston over us. Our system is much more Taylor'd to his playing style. Yes I am bias d but Boston doesn't have a clear direction . Just a lot of good pieces

Players don't always think like that, though.

Agents do. And I think players do as well - I mean we saw draft picks not working out for teams who they felt they didn't fit with. Harris is 22yo, on a four year deal he comes out on the other end 26-27yo looking for another big time contract, if he lands now in the proper situation he could make himself a max player or at least make more money on his next contract if he lands in the right situation now.

but agents do. I'm purely speculating but as a free agent I look at Andre vs ........olynk?

I'm talking about team situation. Yes Boston just made the playoffs but i feel playing next to Andre and for svg is far more appealing not to mention a good young core. Who does Boston have for a center? This is pure speculation in just saying . Compare rosters

Boston could sign two max players this off-season. If they land Monroe very early, then they could sell a Olynk-Monroe-Harris frontcourt. Though I'd still like Ilyasova-Drummond-Harris as more appealing to Toby, as well as a Harris-Drummond-Johnson long term front court possibility.

Was the Splitter deal conditional on LMA choosing the Spurs? Otherwise the Spurs gave him away for nothing and will have trouble replacing him at this time in the off-season.

I'm pretty sure it's as done of a deal as you can get during the moratorium. If they don't get Aldridge then trading Splitter and losing Baynes is a big blow to their Duncan support system. Apparently David West would be going there in that situation (or maybe even in addition to Aldridge) but they would still need another center or two.

Spurs could end up with the worst offseason if they dont get LMA. They will have basically dumped their C and gave their SG a big raise and nothing else. Maybe no Belinelli too.

^Basically they traded Splitter when they did to be able to keep Danny Green in the interim while the LMA situation played out. I do hope LaMarcus does choose the Spurs though, because they're the only team who is standing in the way of Cleveland bought and paid for championship/

Golden state, don't forget. A improved Draymond and Barnes probably, heck Klay and Steph can improve too

Sam Amick ‏@sam_amick
As @ESPNSteinLine noted, Kings going hard for Wes Matthews. That offer - 4 years, nearly $65 million - leaves him with a ton to chew on.

Good lord...

Lets just say I'm pleased with how SVG has handled this off season

So Monta chose Indiana over them and they decide to just throw all their money at Wes Matthews? lol he is a nice player and all but coming off that huge injury this is just such a stupid contract. I bet they waste the rest of what they have on rondo too..

Josh Smith negotiating with the Kings.

Second time a team has traded future assets for cap space and ended up having to settle for Josh Smith.

Tee-hee.

Don't understand the cap space we get back if josh smith signs a big deal. If kings offer him a big deal like 2 years 30 mil what would we get back?

I don't have the wording, but I believe it is half of the difference between whatever he signed and the league minimum.

It would be stretched out over the life of the stretch, though. It in all probability won't result in much savings unless he signs a long deal for a lot of money, which is unlikely. Far more likely he signs a one or two year deal in hopes of playing well and recuperating his value.

I see both Rondo and Smith signing deals with the Kings (Rondo could go to the Lakers) that are relatively short in hopes of proving their worth in the increased cap environment.

it's fine to sit down and watch other desperate teams making dumb moves.

I feel sorry for Sacto, though, 'cause I fancy Kings since Adelman's days.

I think that everyone in the Central Division is in playoff contention, and everyone got better. The east also got a lot better! Maybe this is the year that the East/West gap gets smaller.
