I dont think people realize how good the elite nba players looked when they were young. For comparison sake here you go, to say there is a world of a difference would be an understatement.

I think I predicted this somewhere a few weeks back.

I'm not sure Matthews will be the starter. Poythress thrives better at the 4, but I could see Cal moving him to the 3 (a la Lyles) and putting Lee at the 4 for more length.

I obviously don't anticipate this team going undefeated, but the individual offensive talents of Ulis, Briscoe, Murray, and Labissiere along with the role playing abilities of Lee, Poythress, and Hawkins maps out a more cohesive unit that has a great chance at winning another one. At the end of games last season, we didn't really have a go to player for baskets. We tried the Harrison twins, but they were pretty talent deficient. For a team that's going undefeated the whole year, they shouldn't have to rely on unreliable guards to win games. Murray changes that for this upcoming team. Ulis should be much more efficient than Andrew.

This upcoming CBB season is going to be ridiculously fun with the talent being spread across the landscape.

With the set up of the roster you almost have to have Poythress start at the 4 and Lee come off the bench. You don't want your first big off the bench to have to be Willis.

Also think they should start Matthews or Mulder and have Briscoe come off the bench to backup either guard spot. Briscoe would play more minutes overall than Matthews or Mulder.

Will be one of the strongest starting 5s in the country but the depth next year for UK will be a huge question mark.

You're right. He probably will be a 4.

I'm not terribly worried about depth. Especially after Duke winning the national championship with what, 8 scholarship players?

True. As long as you have 1 small and 1 big off the bench who can keep up the play of starters then all you really need are 2 warn bodies to steal a couple minutes a game.

Well, perhaps the use of "looks like a clone" was a bit much, although I wasn't using it to say he was the NEXT Shaq. Rather that he has more than a few similarities. No biggie if you disagree

I think he made a good call staying in the 2016 class.

there's also this article about the college prospects and how they fared at the Nike Basketball Academy

notes:

Ben Simmons was on-point as usual
Poeltl was dissapointing (also played hurt though)
Damian Jones looks like a lotto pick and was giving Jakob the business apparently
and Sabonis was impressive

very nice.

The one thing he did really well at the Hoops summit was rebound. Seems like he's really taken that up a notch since then. He goes after everything.

Is motor and energy is gonna land him some boards for sure. Hopefully he can gain some size over the next few years to alleviate being shoved out of position.

Social media era does a few unexpected things. Guys get to see their criticism almost in real time. So it either lights an immediate fire under them or they quell under the pressure. It's an interesting paradigm shift to the marquee prospect.

out of the guys you listed these are the only ones I know anything about

Derryck Thornton Jr - could be a one and doner with a good year at Duke surrounded by all that talent they'll have this year. I think he has lotto talent but his size might push him down.

Chase Jeter - First rounder, needs size and his footwork doesn't make up for it as much as it does with others. Like his board work though.

Antonio Blakeney - intrigued to see what he does this year. I don't know where he lands right now.

Thomas Bryant - looks like an energy big to me right now. I see early second after one year maybe something more with a couple seasons at school.

Henry Ellenson - still yet to be impressed with him so as it stands he's a second rounder to me until I see something to tell me otherwise.

Ray Smith - if 100% I think he has a ton of potential and is a lotto pick at least. his injury usually takes a couple years to fully recover though if im not mistaken.

Allonzo Trier - I think he's a 2 and through guy and not an NBAer. He gets buckets and will more than likely be good in college but I don't think he can be a 2 in the league due to size and he won't gain the PG skills to play the 1 in the league.

Carlton Bragg - I don't get the hype but I wouldn't be surprised if he turns out better than I thought he would be. more than likely a first rounder.

Isaiah Briscoe - Might get first round love off the UK hype train with a solid year. I think he has a long way to go though to be a quality pro if he leaves after one season I'd personally say 2nd round.

Caleb Swanigan - as much as I love him he's been underwhelming the last few times I've seen him. I don't see the first rounder I saw before anymore. I don't see one and done.

Jalen Brunson - I like his IQ and his game. not sure about NBA projection though. maybe a late first early second depending on who else is eligible.

Dwayne Bacon - one and done due to NBA size and his advanced age for a freshman. I think he's a first rounder with lotto talent.

Theo Pinson - im just curious to see what he does this year. from what I saw before he got hurt he's def lotto material.

Zhou Qi - I didn't see the hype. stashable though.

George Lucas de Paula - 2 years away from being Bruno Caboclo's 2 years away when he got drafted. kid is RAW. his physical profile gets him stashed though. could be a first if you think other teams have him on the radar for the same thing and you don't need him right away. I'd take him in the second though if I could.

Georgios Papagiannis - staying in Greece to play pro ball over there. He's a top ten stasher IMO though if you can afford to do that.

Speaking of old, unless my maths are off will Marvin Bagely be well on his way to 21 by the time his 1st NBA season is due to start. All things going as predicted.
