A fine I would gladly take on the chin if I were him and was not permitted to attend.

Which would be a proof of unprofessionalism and proof that those attitude claims were true. His act that go to practice means he is not a head case like some portrayed him( "JR Smith v2")

All it would have proved was that he was not willing to miss a momentous day in his life to attend an off season practice for a team he was leaving. It is not proof of an attitude problem. Some things in life only happen once and are special, you dont miss those days when they come around to go to a team practice. The team either lets you off which is what should happen, if not then you take it upon yourself to go and deal with the consquences. I would never have missed my own graduation day for something so ridiculous.

I like this move and I commend him for being so professional so that he missed draft. I like that, shows commitment until last moment for his team.

You commend him, I call it stupidity. Showing that kind of commitment to a team that hasnt done right by him.

He already has to pay hefty buyout to GTFOH, getting fined would not help.He gets paid 100k per season but his buyout is over 2m $.

I feel he doesn't need to be humbled because he is a workaholic, someone who breathes basketball. Does not party, works around 3-4 hours on his game every day. That is the main reason why he feels he should be ranked higher, because in his mind, he won't let himself fail. He truly believes that there is no other alternative for him but to become a great player.

Can't believe the team had to screw him over one last time

Who has ever heard of practice after elimination ???!?!

It's clearly just the team messing with him

I agree

If you are a teenager who wants to be one of the best players in the world world, you can't like how barca handeled this

Makes sense to go to a lower level team like prizingas did, star, have your season end early, and go... Be able to work out with teams, and do the interviews

Hezonja was still playing, a day before the draft!!! No one has interviewed him, or worked him out, or seen much of him because his coach at barca didn't care to play a 1-and-done player on his team

Hezonja is just so talented.
He is euro-kobe

As more stories come out, you kinda get that feeling from him, he is a workout fiend, he is a basketball nut. At a young age, he decided basketball is his life, he doesn't party, he doesn't club, h is all basketball all the time...

He is cocky, and he thinks he is the best player, he doesn't want to defer to other players that don't work as hard as him (sound familiar?)

You draft him to be your alpha
You draft him to be your leader. To be your scorer. To be your best player.

I think he will end up at 76rs, Magic, Kings, Miami or Thunder.

FC Barcelona ruined my opportunity to see him put on a Magic cap. God poor kid got drafted 5th and didn't get to experience this once and a lifetime event. By relativity I now root against messi and their soccer team.
The hero Orlando deserves is out there somewhere, Dwight was not the one we needed. So we will hunt for him...

this post got me even more hype for him. Orlando has very good complimentary players but no true alpha to lead the pack. If he can develop into a true #1 option, watch out.

To be fair, FC Barcelona did nothing wrong, Hezonja has a professional contract with the team. Until he pays the buyout he is a member of FC Barcelona's roster so they just wanted him to work for them as the contract says. You are right, they could have left him travel and attend to the draft (because season is just over in Spain), but why should they do it? If they lose Mario they are going a lose a huge asset.

Anyway, don't worry about it, you will watch him wearing more than just a Magic's cap.

I really want to see this guy up close and in action this year.

Snagged 8th row tickets last year for a bill, behind the Wizards bench (about 1/3 up the court)
USA Celtics in full effect. Amazing chemistry building experience right there for the main core of the team

Proceeds to finish 7th and shames the entire nation!

because they burned bridges with not just mario but with other potential players that might've wanted to join barca. they saw how they treated him and will be put off by that. much like marc gasol doesn't want to even consider lakers because of his bro pau gasol.

Did Mario say anything about this or is this just speculation? You really think young talent will avoid Barcelona?
