All this talk about Gallo is really starting to get me interested in what he could do for us at the 4 position.

I can tell you if you like. It will be a bit like having Frye back but will likely cost you more. Also he's an even worse defender and rebounder. Mostly because he plays far from the basket but so does Bledsoe and he averages 5.1 rebounds a game. That's 1.4 rebounds a game more than the 6' 10" guy. Also, Gallo's shooting has been mediocre. He hasn't shot over 42% from the floor since his second year, and only 35% from 3 last year which would sadly make him our 2nd best. (We really shot the 3 poorly last year. It's a huge concern.) Lastly, he'd be a permanent fixture on the dirty in Scottsdale.

I don't see much point going for Ajinca and then keeping Wright - too similar frame and skillset.

I'd like to keep Wright as insurance and because we know what he can do, 3yr $22m or so?

I think we can end with these signings :

Part-time backup PG : Ish Smith ( 2 guaranteed years for him...around $3M for that two years)

Backup C : Alexis Ajinca ( $15M / 3 years)

Big adquisition, character guy , savvy player : Danny Green ( $30M / 3 years)

Backup PF : Brandan Wright ( $28M / 4 years) We have his Bird rights so we can exceed our cap.

Starting SG/ Backup PG : Brandon Knight ( $70M / 5 years ). We have his Bird rights so we can exceed our cap.

I think this is pretty good. Though I don't see how you can sign all these guys you have listed and not have a trade.

There are five names that to me are on the trade list: Morris, Morris, Bullock, Tucker and Goodwin. Plus the rightsto Bogdanovich if you like Booker plus draft picks

In Coro's article he talked about cutting salary to sign guys. I could see the Suns trading Tucker and somebody (Marcus)or just both Morris brothers for Brendan Haywoods non guaranteed deal. It helps the Cavs bench while staying within the cap. Not saying the luxry tax but the cap. Suns get back $10m of cap space.

it is the forward position - needs need an upgrade there

I also reall hope Patric Young shows enough to keep on the roster. A big time foul machine thatbrings the pain is a good thing.

Yeah, but Ajinca with his 7'9" Wingspan and 9'4" standing reach!!

I too would like to keep Wright, but since we should have at least one more back-up 5, Ajinca wouldn't be a bad choice, especially considering Wright can also backup the 4 when needed.

With belief around the league that Orlando will not match a max for Tobias Harris, we need to be all over that. He should be our first priority imo, because he improves our shooting and can play the stretch 4 and some 3 for us, on top of being just 22 with upside to grow.

He's not a 4. Plus we have umpteen SFs (4) already. We'd have to move at minimum 2 of them. Plus, plus I'd like to see Warren get a real shot at starting.

As a guy with no Suns bias, I think Warren can be a star-level scorer in the not too distant future.

Did you consider Corey Maggette to be a star level scorer?

I love Warren, and I think he has a bright future, but as of right now he gets a large majority of his buckets at the rim. If he wants to be an all star he need to work on his shooting or he'll have a career exactly like Maggette's.

For me, back up PF/C (Koufos, Wright, Ajinca) and back up PG (Ish, Corey Joseph, Barea, etc) - all can wait. No need to go apes**t and blow your wad on July 1 for any of these guys. This is where Sarver screwed up when he wisely let Amare go but he panicked on Warrick, to this day, panicked with trading for Hedo, totally screwed up signing Childress.

July 1 at midnight guys are Love and Aldridge.
Also, he needs the trade market to see if there are assets to move to clear cap
Danny Green and Carrol come next - do you get that wing scorer/defender
Finally, your back up PG and back up PF/C

And lastly, to me, if there is a trade market for the Morri and Tucker - I wouldn't be afraid to pull the trigger even if you don't get Love. Locker room chemistry is a big deal and that locker room was not good.

I'm confused by the green and Carroll interest. Didn't they learn anything from the Childress and warick disasters? Big contracts to role players isn't smart. Wouldn't it make more sense to just give the wing minutes to the young wings already on the roster?

There is a lot of truth in this statement. If you don't get Love - and I saw some tweet that said "he is going back to Cleveland and that the Cavs will have Haywood dealt soon after July 1" -there is no need to overpay for players. Short deals, good cap figures

Would love to keep Wright(I think he's the best backup C in the league) but if Ajinca or Koufos could give you 70% of his production for 40% of the cost, then I could see McD looking at those two as replacements

Some of his best games(his 48 point explosion against Dallas) came with him playing the 4, because he's such a matchup problem for opposing power forwards

I agree with you, but they also need to avoid the mistakes of last offseason. They spent so much time and effort going after the big fish that they neglected their own FAs and garnered some ill-will as a result.

As much as Frye is overpaid, we really did miss his presence both on and off the court. Team hasn't been the same without him. Not saying I would have matched Orlando's offer, but the FO didn't have a good replacement in mind. They tried Tolliver, but for some confusing reason they never paired him with Goran or used him as the pick and pop/screen role that Frye excelled at. Instead, they used him as a spot-up shooter. Tolliver is a good player, and it's not a coincidence that Detroit's offense opened up after he was traded there. They didn't hesitate to guarantee his next year because they see his value.

Who gives a crap if we have a billion forwards, Tobias Harris is only like 10 times better than all of them.

That said, I bet he has better suitors than the Suns and will probably go elsewhere. Plus if he asks his cousin Frye about the Suns, I bet Frye screws the Suns over.

Harris is a really interesting case. Raw numbers look great, advanced stats paint him as a replacement-level player. No idea what to think of him; still looks like a tweener without a real position. Not big/strong enough to defend 4s or crash the glass, not quick enough to defend 3s.

Still, I like the idea of what he could be if he develops properly, so I think he's worth a shot.

The thing that you hope for from Love or Aldridge is the truth. Meaning by 1205am ET on July 1 - the Suns know if they are in the game or not, Maybe not 1205 am - but pretty soon in the process. And if the answer is no - be ready to move forward.

I just think the key is like you said "don't put all your eggs in the Love Aldridge basket"; but also don't panic and overpay guys for long term deals to look busy. Who ever posted about getting 70% of the value of Wright but at 40% of the cost- that could apply to PF. I keep saying Amare as an option but you might get him for a decent salary, two years and not over commit.

And there is no way the Suns can keep saying they want a more veteran locker room, get a back up PG, bring in a backup PF/C (might just be bringing Wright back) and upgrading your team without a trade. A trade is going to happen - Morris twins, Bullock, Goodwin, Tucker - draft picks. Something from a roster number standpoint, has to happen.

IF Love is going back to Cleveland - wonder what happens with Tristan Thompson. His offensive game sucks - but he does bring engery and rebounding - though am not sure what $$ value that is.

Lastly, if Granger is healthy - he can bring what the mid range shooting that Marcus brings you now. Maybe not the three point but the mid range.

Seems to be going to New York but not a lot of noise about him as its all Aldridge and Love. But possibly yes.

I would take a trade of Monroe/Granger for the Morris twins right now. Add in a wing scorer like Green or Carroll. Might not be the worst idea.
