Could be a very nice scoring punch off the bench while he looks for a new contract

Mad that the Magic declined his option. They need a backup PG. Could've easily did Calderon for Ben Gordon.

god, i sure do hope so

Gasol and West up front with Melo is a pretty nice combo of defense, toughness and floor spacing

if we get marc and west there will be no money for an sg. Maybe now you can sign Ben Gordon or Caron Butler for the vet minimum to fill the SG spot.

Meh, getting Marc would lessen the leverage for West to ask for more money from us. I'd rather go Marc & Ellis or Green then offer West the rest of MMLE.

Beware of Danny Green

Post#4849 » by RHODEY » Sun Jun 28, 2015 6:11 pm

I believe this guy looked better playing under SAS and that system than he actually is. On top of that he fizzled out in this years playoffs.

Maybe we should have an official thread for every major FA this summer we might be targeting.

Make this the official Danny Green thread?

Couldn't agree more. Whichever team pays him 10 million plus will surely regret it.

I'll support the D-Green sign under the right price. Something like 7-8 mil or lower is fine. Anything higher than that is a overpay for a guy that is the definition of a three and D guy. Remember this guy almost went in the second round of the draft so it's not like finding a three and D guy is that difficult

i like danny, but this team can't be worrying themselves about signing role players when we haven't signed another key piece.

We're trying to change the culture here in New York. Bringing a guy over from arguably the best culture in the game is definitely a great move.

Danny is also a career 42% 3PT shooter on a high volume. He plays the game the right way, and his defense is superb.

He's a guy we can plug into our lineup and fit in perfectly. Our 1-4 would be: Grant/Green/Melo/Porzingis. That spacing is ridiculous!

Considering the projected cap spikes in the next couple years, I don't think we'd be overpaying for his services. Remember he'll only be 28 next year, and that' s a young 28 considering he's only logged 9000 minutes in his whole career. So I love the idea of bringing this young, talented and smart player aboard.

t
Scott Layden said the same thing about culture when he brought over Howard Eisley and Shamdumb Anderson. Not trying to rash Green but I think we need to temper our expectations and exercise caution.
