We don't have to trade away anyone of importance. Just send Chicago $3 million in cash considerations, a 2nd rounder, and the rights to Louis Labeyrie + our trade exception.

This sounds good but one would have think that the bulls can get a similar deal elsewhere with better assets.

Perhaps. But to a cheap owner like Reinsdorf, the $3 million in cash considerations and us taking on Taj's salary without sending a player back putting the Bulls in the tax, may be of more importance than receiving another player or pick.

If you are expecting Danny Green to put up 15 a game and to create some offense, then yes, beware.

If you are being rational and need a guy to play good perimeter defense, make correct decisions with the basketball, and stretch the floor, then sign Danny Green.

He is a complimentary piece that can be important to a winning team.

I like Danny Green, but not at the price that's he's going to be asking for. Also, we don't really have the right personnel to utilize him properly. 3 and D guys are great, but we don't have enough playmakers in our lineup to justify overpaying a SG who can't create for himself or others.

He's the type of player that you need to find for your team BEFORE their payday.. Ala Carroll, Middleton, Trevor Ariza. These young blue collared guys can be found for cheap, it's just all about good scouting / management. Paying Danny Green $10M annually IMHO is just not conducive to building a championship caliber team.

I'd be glad to have Danny Green. 3 point shooting and defense is valuable in any system.

Why sign Ellis when we can get Shved who can produce similar minute for minute efficiency.. I think having a second scorer is overrated..we need defenders, rebounders and guys who can make open shots..we bricked a lot of open looks last year

...would help Reinsdorf trade Taj to one of those other suitors with a similar package of assets out of spite

Now if Phil is really cunning, he'd ask Jeanie to extend Butler a max offer (with LMA understanding that he'd get a max offer from LA to sign after Chicago matches, to just sit tight) so Reinsdorf can come running to us to save him from a life in tax land.

i Kind of like carroll more because he"s a better slasher and in our system cutting to the basket is important. He brings more energy and is a junkyard dog while still providing defense and 3 point shooting.

However if you can get danny green at a cheaper price thaN carroll then im kool with that too

The one issue I'd have with this is it doesn't allow for an easy transition of KP into the starting line up. West does.

Im trying to win a championship or go deep in the playoffs... is this possible?

Trade Calderon & (2nd rd?) to Cleveland for TPE & Haywood (or we can add $3 mil cash and right to Louis L(Early?) also going to Cleveland)

Gives us about $33-34 mil in cap space after Haywood is waived.

Sign MGasol at $19 to start
Sign Wade at $15 mil - 2yrs (p.option)

Trade 2nd rd, $3 mil in cash, right to Louis L and TPE to Chi fir T.Gibson.

Melo
Gibson
Gasol (great mentor for Kristaps)
Wade (great mentor for both J.Grant and Gallo)
Grant

Of course this all depends on having Cleveland to bite on trading for Calderon... C'mon LeBron you owe Wade, tell management..LOL

Also the T.Gibson trade, doesn't have to happen, we can sign another vet mini PF/SF or have a LThomas start in the front court, who knows the system already and can guard both forward spots with Melo... dude just has to start hitting that jumper more often. Also open spot for going after Durant next to Melo & Gasol. Calderon trade could also include cash and rights to Louis L if no T.Gibson Trade.

Bench:
Gallo
Shved (over cap Mid Level?)
Kristaps
Admunson
LThomas
Early
Aldrich (Room Ex. once hit cap)
Ledo
Thanasis
Beasley or Ben Gordon?

Money & Deals are tight... but its possible.

Durant in 2016?

Would Cleveland do: Calderon, Early?, rights to Louis L, 2nd rd, $3 cash for TPE and Haywood? This would allow us to possibly sign MGasol and DWade...

Calderon & Early is about $8.5 mil off our books.. would bring cap space to approx $34 mil maybe a little more.

MGasol - $19 ish mil ($19.7 MIL max, P.Option)
DWade - $15 ish mil - 2 yrs (P.Option)

Close...

MGasol would have to middle to himself, Melo and Wade would be the best players he ever played with, East is easier. .. etc..

Wade gets good money...more than Miami offered with P.Option when cap gets big, plays with Melo, stays east and game might get easier in under Tri system, with Gasol and Melo have a chance to be the best in the East.

Knicks get great mentors for their young players and chance to win the east now.. also will look much more attractive to a Durant and others in 2016... Melo has a chance to win one.

Green's contract now will look good when people like Nerlens Noel are getting 25 mill per under the bigger cap.

Im with Rhodey on this one.

I like Danny Green, I really do. Hes a solid role player and will be a good fit for us.

My problem is, his price tag for the skills he provides. I feel we can find a cheaper and younger option that can provide the same skills he does.

Danny is also a career 42% 3PT shooter on a high volume. He plays the game the right way, and his defense is superb.

He's a guy we can plug into our lineup and fit in perfectly. Our 1-4 would be: Grant/Green/Melo/Porzingis. That spacing is ridiculous!

Sign me up.

Scott Layden said the same thing about culture when he brought over Howard Eisley and Shamdumb Anderson. Not trying to rash Green but I think we need to temper our expectations and exercise caution.

Yup. What about Malik Rose bringing that "winning attitude"

Might as well put Grant in that starting SG spot.

I think we'll have two more bigs on this roster before we go after a SG. I think part of the strategy of drafting Grant was to make sure we had 3 guards who could play PG/SG in Calderon, Galloway and Grant because most likely all 3 of them and another very cheap SG (Shved) will be what we go with in 2015. I think the money will be spent on bigs and we'll have to wait until next year to get a SG that fits.

This Line Up would be ok for me. For sure we should still try to trade Calderon. If we don't trade him, we have to go for Monroe and a PF like West/Gibson. That would mean we would have no money left to spend. Don't you think we could just roll with Shved at the 2? He was very productive last year as a starter putting up 18/5/4 and ok shooting numbers. Don't forget that he was our main creator with guys like Amundson, Stiff and Thomas on the court. Imagine how he could work with a healthy Melo and a great post player like Monroe.
He isn't a great defender but he was very solid from what i saw.
