PG: Calderon | Galloway | Grant
SG: [•] | Shved | Ledo
SF: Anthony | Early | Antetokounmpo
PF: Gibson | Porzingis | Amundson
C: Monroe | Aldrich | Smith

The one issue I'd have with this is it doesn't allow for an easy transition of KP into the starting line up. West does.

i don't think that's an issue considering Taj has always been a 6th man/1st big off the bench type and he never has averaged big minutes. Also, Taj is 30 and only getting older. By the time Porzingis is ready Taj can slot right back into his customary role.

Might as well put Grant in that starting SG spot.

Trust me, I really don't even want Jose on this team, let alone in our starting lineup. I just understand that Phil is married to him. I'd honestly prefer trading or stretching him to be honest. With Grant and Galloway he's irrelevant, especially at his salary and what we could do with that money this offseason. He is only beneficial in the remote chance we can sign Gasol. If not, I don't want him here.

3D players arnt too hard to find. I am a fan of Danny Green, but not at 8-10 Mil a year. Which seems to be what his price tag is going to be.

That money could be used elsewhere to fill some bigger holes.

Danny is also a career 42% 3PT shooter on a high volume. He plays the game the right way, and his defense is superb.

He's a guy we can plug into our lineup and fit in perfectly. Our 1-4 would be: Grant/Green/Melo/Porzingis. That spacing is ridiculous!

Sign me up.

he is not talented enough for the money he'd ask of us

None of the SG's are. Wes wants 15 per year.

Yes, this is very possible, but we need guys like him that are;
-Healthy
-Has playoff express experience
-Plays both ends of the floor
- High character

Its more important that Melo doesn't fizzle out when it counts.

I would hope he takes somewhere between 10 and 12 mil. On some nights, with his 3 pt shooting, he will look like he is worth 16 mil a year, but he will have those crappy games too.
Believe me, I am trying to convince myself that he is worth signing too.

Not expecting him to create his own shot, but when there is good ball movement, he can drastically improve our 3pt shooting.

What do you guys think about Calderon for David Lee and 1st round pick? Lee would be a nice stop gap at PF for Kristaps.

I actually agree that our 3D 2G can be found a lot cheaper maybe even via trade.

JR netted us a 5.9M trade exception, Shump 2.6M, Outlaw 1.8M and Pablo 1.6M

I would look at Justin Holiday from GSW

I think alot of our disagreements on this board revolve around Monte Ellis vs. Danny Green.

The contracts I see each player getting.

Green- 4 years (36-44 million)
Ellis- 4 years (40-48 million)

I think Ellis the clear choice here. Here are the reasons.
1.) we need a clear secondary scorer and creater behind Melo. Ellis will provide that; he put up good numbers last year on a 50 win Dallas team. He seems to be maturing and will fit this team well behind Melo. Danny Green is more a 3 and D type player. While having that is nice; it's clear we will need more scoring on this team. We can possibly sign a Steve Novak to stretch the floor in spurts or even use Porzingis in that role while he develops.
2.) Ellis will fit well in a 2 guard lineup with Grant/Calderon as they are both big guards. Calderon is a knock-down 3 point shooter and will fit it well in a drive and kick 2 man game with Ellis and/or Melo.

I would consider it depending who we got at center and if we struck out during free agency. I think D-Lee is a well rounded player but his defense it too bad for us not to have some defenders surrounding him melo and calderon.

i feel like, while lee seems like a good dude, he'd be a bad influence. i also think we need kris to get as many minutes as is he can possibly get.

From the Knicks' perspective, we take that **** and run. From the Warriors' perspective, what use do they have for Calderon to warrant throwing in a 1st round pick? He would serve no purpose on that team.

Another point on Ellis.

If we sign him, West, and Monroe; our team becomes very potent offensively.

STARTING LINEUP

(C)Monroe-- a guy who can create within the triangle as a big who can post up and find the open man. (15/10 guy)

(F)West-- a guy who can provide the interior toughness our team needs. We can play him at center when we play 'small ball' as the Warriors did in spurts with Draymond Green. (8/8 guy)

(F)Melo-- our primary scorer. Franchise player. I see him coming back strong this year. (26 points / 8 rebounds / 4 assists)

(G)Ellis-- a guy who will provide a much needed secondary scorer for the Knicks team. Will take a lot of the scoring burden off Melo and I think he will fit well. He was able to do well in the Dallas system last year and was an active passer prior to the Rondo arrival. (17 points/ 6 assists)

(G)Calderon-- Steady hand at the point guard position. Will run 2 guard lineup with Ellis and share bringing up the ball. Can stretch the floor with his 3 point shot. I look for him to play well as a second year player in the triangle. (10 points / 5 assists)

BENCH

Emeka Okafor; Caron Butler; Jerian Grant; Kristaps Porginis; Thanis Antethekoumpo; Langston Galloway; Ricky Ledo; Louis Amundson; Cleanthony Early, 1 more big/veteran to round out the linup (maybe Bargs if he will play on a min contract)

Rotation
C: Monroe(30)/ West(10)/ Okafor(8)/ Amundson
PF: West(22)/ Melo(12)/ Porginis(14)
SF: Melo(28)/Butler(12)/ Porginis(8)/ Early
SG: Ellis(35)/ Butler(13)/Ledo
PG: Calderon(25)/ Grant(13)/ Galloway(10)

Trade exceptions are now pointless. You don't get trade exceptions AND cap space. Your cap space IS a trade exception to the other team.

They are redunant to the $27m in cap space the Knicks have and serve no purpose.

Applying my economics skills.. Is West at 9 better than Koufus at 6 and McDaniels at 3?

We need to be buying misfit players that have legit skills, but were in bad situations or deep teams.
