young was outstanding both years at oregon. did a great job at fitting in right away two years ago as a junior transfer, making his mark (19 ppg) without throwing anybody else off their games. this past season he was the pac-12 player of the year for a reason; besides young, the ducks returned a reserve forward and an end-of-the-bench guard. that's it. he started the year at 2-guard with three true freshmen around him, but the team took off when he took over the PG duties halfway through. he took a lot of shots because the team needed him to do so, there wasn't a consistent second scorer at any point all year.
i was ecstatic when indy took him. he's by no means a finished product at point, and he may never be. but he shouldn't make a bunch of turnovers because he seemed (at oregon) to understand his limitations, and his scoring and outside shooting should be a boon for indy's second unit. when he gets going, he's a lot of fun to watch.
as for defense, well, i can say that at least he tries.

Re: Young
Should have the potential to turn into a 6th man scoring spark plug off the bench in the Isiah Thomas/Crawford/Lou Williams role
USA Celtics in full effect. Amazing chemistry building experience right there for the main core of the team
Proceeds to finish 7th and shames the entire nation!

SmashMouthRod wrote:Hill has been erratic for the most part as a Pacer leading to many critics and fans (including myself) to feel that his spot shouldve been upgraded for years.... The teams win percentage wasnt much different when Watson started vs when Hill started. I will go as far as to say that George Hill is overrated and overpaid. His defense is pretty good but Paul still spent plenty of time guarding point guards like Teague, Rose and other guys that Hill can supposedly defend.
I think you're confusing things. When Paul last played, Teague wasn't a dominant force, yet since Atlanta didn't have any dominant wings, Paul guarded him. Rose was a transcendent player when last George was guarding him (MVP year). I wouldn't knock Hill for those.
However, last year, we were 26-17 in games Hill played in. 23-13 when he started. When Watson played, we were 25-32. 7-14 when Watson started. I know Watson was playing through his foot injury, but we were a good team when Hill played. A really good team when he started. When Watson played, we were below average. When Watson started? Horrendous.
