I was thinking of Koufos as a cheaper option over those top tier guys.

I'm looking to be with a team that’s ready to win,” said Monroe during a timeout at his youth basketball clinic Saturday morning at the Delgado Community College gymnasium. “Hopefully it will be a team where I’m the missing piece.”

Is he the missing piece though? Feels like we are at least two years away. And he sounds like he's signing a 2 year deal.

He's going to NY. He's just pandering to the NY fans. So they think he's the missing piece. Which they probably believe.

Monroe could be pandering. But if we're talking about the Lakers, Celtics, Knicks and Blazers we are at least amongst the closest ready to win.

Knicks aren't close. Porzingis is years away and they traded Tim Hardaway Jr. for a rookie.

Lakers would be brutal defensively with a Monroe / Randle pairing. Blazers if they keep Aldridge would be tough, but the Batum deal makes that seek far-fetched.

Like us, the Celtics are pretty close to at least winning in the East, but they could really use a rim protector.

Boston also doesn't have two potential superstars in tow. If we convince Monroe he would be the missing piece with them, we could have a shot at him, despite these big name cities we are competing with.

Think you're severely underrating D-Mo's value.

Monroe has his weaknesses, but he'd be a real interesting addition. He is young, he can score in the post, he can rebound, and he can pass. I'd take him over the other options listed so far, assuming they felt he'd fit into the salary structure of what we want to do long term.

You're right. If he is telling the truth and has any intelligence he will sign with the Bucks.

I just don't believe him. Because, well, it's the Bucks. And I've been a tortured fan the last decade and a half.

Another good option. Can he play the 5 exclusively though? I wonder what his stats are like against big opponents.

I like Monroe over the other options, especially if he is interested in a shorter deal. Plus I don't think he has been in an offense since college that fits him as well as ours.

Koufos just isn't very skilled & not good enough defensively to move the needle. No thanks to him.

I like the idea of Monroe on the team. He can't shoot at all, but at least he can hit a free throw unlike some max centers, and he can actually pass and rebound. And the Bucks might be uniquely equipped to deal with his defensive inadequacies.

I'm not just convinced he'd want to come to Milwaukee. He seems set on New York.

You posted the max contract numbers for the Clips versus another team a couple weeks ago. What were those? I think another $30 million guaranteed by the Clips gets DeAndre over any personality issues with CP3.

And he's not a guy like LeBron who would get a much better contract next summer with the new cap.

At the very least he could request a sign and trade if he wanted the money and the Clippers would go for it so that they could get some assets.

It might be sort of fun watching Ballmer and Cuban play real life fantasy basketball with each other.

Jordan would be extremely exciting but we have no chance. Monroe would be exciting too but I'm sure we're just being used as leverage. He will end up in New York. Our only chances on the big names are Lopez (somewhat slim but plausible) and Chandler.

Koufos is a great defender though.. Dude is huge, tough, does all the dirty work and protects the rim. Would be a great complement to Giannis at the 4 defensively. And is a high energy guy on offense, solid finisher around the basket. There's only 3 offensive big man worth a damn out there who would actually be worth the huge contract they'd command, and that's Marc, LMA, and Love. And we're getting none of those three. Koufos on a value contract would be waay better than overpaying for either Lopez, Monroe, or an aging Chandler.

Didn't know he suited up for SL. Wasn't he on the team like 2 days before Hambone flipped him to the Craptors for Delfeezy and Roko?

I have seen Monroe connected to the Knicks for a while. Do we know how substantiated that is though?

I honestly don't know, and of course, the media does have a habit of hyping players going to NY.

People forget they closed that loophole with the 2011 CBA. DeAndre can only get from Dallas a four year deal at whatever Dallas is allowed to pay him under the CBA even if he was sign and traded there.

That's what is so great about that CBA. Otherwise we'd have 80 stories about DeAndre, LMA, etc demanding the big bird rights contract and the trade to the Lakers along with it.

Caron Butler is on our roster. Eric Bledsoe is on the trade block. THIS IS IT PEOPLE. WE ARE GOING TO ACQUIRE BLEDSOE IN A TRADE THAT WILL SEND BUTLER BACK TO PHOENIX AND FINALLY COMPLETE THE CIRCLE. IT IS FATE.

Zaza couldn't even dream of 15 ppg on 50% shooting and that's basically Monroe's career stats. His defense needs work but he'd be an interesting piece of he can be taught to play position defense.

The one guy I always think of is Mo when he went to the Cavs. The proper motivation can make anybody play defense.
