Post#1 » by OscarH » Sun Jun 28, 2015 4:30 pm

Per @billherenda and searching twitter looks like this is summer league roster so far
(making my own assumption WCS will be)

Stockton, Corey Hawkins
Stauskas, DeAndre Liggins, Juwaun Staten
Shaquielle McKissic, Duje Dukan
Moreland, David Wear, CJ Leslie
WCS, Sim Bhullar

Who is getting to the rim on us? We might set the summer league record for blocks!

Great to see CJ Leslie on that list. I wanted the Kings to look at him in the draft. Last time I watched him in the D-league it didn't look like had much of any shot down though. He is a heck of a defender at SF/PF and fits right into the idea of switching in pick and roll. Good to see Liggins as well. That's not a bad team right there and it does at least have some low cost options for what they're looking for as a defensive SF.

I'm a little surprised that neither Ray or Ben are playing though. I mean it's not unusual for 3rd year players to sit it out I guess. The one thing I do like about it is that no doubt, Nik is the Kobe Bryant of that team, haha. I hope he's ready to show what he's got!

Glad Sim is back. Was hoping we had him in D league again this season.

Stockton lobs to Willy should be fun. I understand Ben not playing with how many minutes he played last year. Vlade seems not to be a Ray fan, when asked about his future on team he was very vauge.

Well, I'm hoping Sim actually PLAYS this time. I watched some of his D-league games and there is no reason not to give him those backup C minutes.

I know what his future is: an unguaranteed contract addition to Jason Thompson's to increase the salary we can take back from $8.6 to $10.5 million. Anyway, that's off topic.

Nice! I'm really liking what I'm seeing so far. They are giving themselves a chance to find a perfect fit steal for their needs on the wing. This reminds me of when they had Matt Barnes and Mo Evans in training camp back in the day. They seem to be going after those types that are running out of time but have the tools to be awesome role players for the team and are ready now. Liggins and Anderson in particular stand out. Both are older and FIT. So far so good.

The D with Liggins, Moreland, and Willie on the front line is going to be sick!!! 8-)

Thanks for keeping us updated Oscar!

Isn't James Anderson a former Spur who broke his foot?

James Anderson is the guy I'm most intrigued by. SacKingZZZ good call out on a name from the past in Mo Evans. The Spurs drafted him with the 20th pick in 2010. He could be an inexpensive 3 and D guy. I have a feeling Vlade is looking to move Stauskas, McLemore or both for the right deal.

Yeah Vlade has hinted if Payne had fallen a bit further in the draft he might of had a deal to get another first. Bet it was one of those two. Hopefully Nik.

Interesting to not see the McRookies playing, Ray Mac especially. Looks like we should have another good squad this year. Anyone else going to be in Vegas for the tournament?

You really don't want Ben and Ray in summer league at this point.

It implies to other teams that we do not feel they are NBA comets yet and need more development. Hurts trade value and recognition value and we need both badly right now.
