The fact that we are even being mentioned with other teams for top FA's is good enough for me right now. This never would have happened under Kohl.

At the very least he could request a sign and trade if he wanted the money and the Clippers would go for it so that they could get some assets.
It might be sort of fun watching Ballmer and Cuban play real life fantasy basketball with each other.
People forget they closed that loophole with the 2011 CBA. DeAndre can only get from Dallas a four year deal at whatever Dallas is allowed to pay him under the CBA even if he was sign and traded there.
That's what is so great about that CBA. Otherwise we'd have 80 stories about DeAndre, LMA, etc demanding the big bird rights contract and the trade to the Lakers along with it.
Defensively, Monroe has been an above-average rebounder throughout his career, averaging a double-double per 36 minutes each of the past four seasons. But he's hardly a prototypical defensive center; he's not a rim protector and doesn't have the quickness to handle quick fours or the ideal size to battle with elite offensive bigs. Nevertheless, his encouraging defensive RPM of +2.29 last season suggests his IQ makes up for a lot, and his splits at center are encouraging on both ends.

Maybe the worst kept secret in the NBA is that Phil Jackson plans to pursue Detroit Pistons forward Greg Monroe in free agency this summer. In fact, one league executive called it “about as close to a done deal as you can get.”
A done deal is illegal of course and would open Jackson and the Knicks to tampering charges. A more likely scenario is that representatives from both parties have made their interest known and will proceed accordingly once the free-agent recruiting period begins on July 1st. It happens all the time.
Still, the talk among scouts and executives who attended the Portsmouth Invitational is that Monroe is Jackson’s primary free-agent target. It’s easy to connect the dots; Monroe’s agent, David Falk, is one of the few agents that Jackson has a relationship with going back more than 20 years when Falk was representing Michael Jordan. Falk is looking for a max contract for Monroe and the Knicks, coming off the worst season in franchise history, are happy to oblige.

Zaza couldn't even dream of 15 ppg on 50% shooting and that's basically Monroe's career stats. His defense needs work but he'd be an interesting piece of he can be taught to play position defense.
The one guy I always think of is Mo when he went to the Cavs. The proper motivation can make anybody play defense.
