I'm out, this organization isn't worth rooting for.

If there's one thing that's true about this FO, it's that it is in no way swayed by fan opinion.

I am very frustrated with this team right now...nothing like going to the bench and replacing Al with Hawes...ugh

Re: The Bismack Biyombo Thread II
I almost moved to Charlotte when I was younger. The Hornets are may second-favorite team in the league and they make it almost impossible to root for them. When the Cavs didn't make into the playoffs in 2014, I was glad that Charlotte got the spot.
Hopefully, they have some secret trade for Big Al lined up and an honest to goodness FA interested in coming there. Otherwise, I just don't understand any of this.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

Re: The Bismack Biyombo Thread II
I mean, it's not that Biz is a great player or something, it's just that we need some semblance of defense from the center position.
Wonder if we're going all-in on this small-ball thing and Al is just the last piece of the old style.
Kemba-Roberts

Batum-Hairston
MKG-Marvin

Clifford has way to much influence on this roster. He is an idiot and I cannot wait for the day we finally fire him.

Re: The Bismack Biyombo Thread II
Cliff doesn't care much for Biz, maybe Cho as well. That's really all that matters in this decision. We can see the value of retaining him, even those among us who don't think he's a particularly special player, but if they can't it's all for naught.
It will be interesting to see what Biz gets on the open market. If it's $9-10 million per year I'd have considered it anyway given the cap increase (and I imagine whatever team offers it feels the same) but I can see why it's not a slam dunk. If the Lakers or Mavs (just two off the top of my head who have space and need rim protectors) scoop Biz up for 4yr/20m or something ridiculously cheap it will really sting.

Re: The Bismack Biyombo Thread II
On the one hand I could see us being confident in our relationship with Biz and having told him to go shopping and we'll match his best offer if he'd like to stick around, but we don't want to commit to paying more than we have to.
On the other hand, I can definitely seeing us telling Biz we wish him the best but we are moving in a different direction.

Re: The Bismack Biyombo Thread II
Zach Lowe on Biyombo's contract situation back in April when he pegged him as a possible free agency steal
http://grantland.com/the-triangle/the-nba-groupon-games-which-players-are-the-next-free-agent-steals/
Although I just realized that back then I assumed that Lowe made a mistake and that Biz's qualifying offer is somewhere around $4 million because of a lack of games that he has started or whatever the rule was.
But Biyombo is a force at the basket, and he could develop into a threatening pick-and-roll dunk machine. Nabbing Biyombo at $3 million or $4 million per season might turn into a bargain, especially after the cap leaps in 2016-17. That kind of salary is already a team-friendly price for a backup big who can start in a pinch, provided the right kind of personnel is around him.
Even the most plugged-in execs are cautious in projecting contracts for this summer, the last one before the biggest cap jump in league history. Teams and agents will negotiate in a weird netherworld between the projected cap for next season, around $68 million, and the potential $90 million cap coming in 2016-17. The league’s average salary, and perhaps the midlevel exception,2 could jump to $7.5 million or so in just two years. Teams want good contracts now, but agents don’t want to sign contracts that will look silly in 2017.
Could you get Biyombo at $4 million? Most people think so, but no one is sure. The Hornets have to tender Biyombo a one-year, $5.2 million qualifying offer to retain matching rights, and executives are nearly unanimous that Biyombo won’t get that kind of money on the open market.

I don't understand, but whatever.
There's really only a couple possibilities: They think they can re-sign him for cheaper than his QO and didn't wanna risk him taking it. But more likely they plan on bringing back Mo and using the full MLE, which would put us right at the tax line. Using the MLE will also hard cap us at around $87m, so that may factor in as well since we're only about $14m below that mark.

Yeah, his QO fell to that of the 15th pick (Kawhi) since he didn't meet the starter criteria. Likewise, Kawhi's increased to the 9th pick (Kemba).

Sounds pretty much like we'd only bring him back at the minimum or something. He's basically a goner.

Good luck with that interior defense, Choseph. Another lottery pick wasted.
