paying wade a ton for a 2-3 year deal if a practical option wasn't available could be pretty cool. besides parker/giannis he'd become instantly the best asset on the team in trade regardless of anything else he'd have going for him.

giving hensons minutes to biyombo would be not cool. I cant believe its even being suggested. id rather play plumlee.

Can this money merely be saved to be used in the future? Barring a 4-5 year (near) max contract where the player gets injured or turns out to be a net negative, there is no real downside (unless you're an owner), it's only upside. Not using the cap space in some significant way would likely be the mistake. There's only downside there.

I'm just saying don't rush the process. It'll be classic Bucks to throw a max money at a centre because we have to. I'm ok with not bringing in any big name this offseason. Giannis and Jabari are 20. We've got nothing but time.

I don't think anyone said sign him and anoint him the starter. if you don't like the other options(which I don't), bring him in on a reasonable deal and have the 2 compete.

Preferences in order (excluding the completely implausible):

1. Sign Tyson Chandler for 12-13 million per AND Dwyane Wade for 15 million per for 3 years as part of an s&t for MCW, Henson, Mayo.

2. Sign Monroe for 2-4 years at the max. Deal MCW + Henson, get a pg who can shoot and defend.

3. Sign Brolo for 2-3 years at the max. Deal Henson for best prospect available.

4. Absorb D-Mo/Papa from Rockets. More aggressively ensure Dud returns if he opts out.

5. Sign Tyson Chandler for 13-14 million per for 2-3 years. Deal MCW + Henson, get a pg who can shoot and defend.

6. Sign Rolo for similar deal as Chandler. Deal MCW + Henson, get a pg who can shoot and defend.

7. Sign Amir Johnson for 11 million per for 2-3 years.

8. Sign Kosta Koufos 2-4 years at around MLE. Deal Henson for best prospect available.

9. Sign Alex Ajinca 2-4 years a couple million below MLE. Deal Henson for best prospect available.

Others likely to be completely unsatisfactory to me on the main signing. And at #8 we're getting into the pretty borderline territory. It's barely better than doing nothing with the space.

How about just sign wade to a 2 year deal with the second year a team option.

Giving a young big like Monroe max money this offseason is the type of risk the Bucks should be taking. If after 2 years he doesn't fit, he should be easily tradeable due to the increased cap and still being relatively young. I don't really see the downside I'm bringing him in.

Why would he opt out of his last year of his contract to obtain a 1 year deal?

He was set to make $16.1 million for next season. Wade now will seek a multiple-year deal with the Heat while also potentially exploring his options elsewhere.

Two suitors might be the Dallas Mavericks and Milwaukee Bucks.

Interesting.

Saw this a few days ago and started to wonder how serious this Wade speculation could be.

So let's play this out. If we get Wade...

Is it a sign and trade where we retain enough cap space to sign a center?

Does Wade play PG?

Does Giannis play point center?

Do we move MCW right after?

Do we compete with the Cavs in the ECF?

In terms of the options you have outlined above, my preference would be in the following order at this point in time:

8, 4, 7, 6, Sign Biyombo (contract around MLE for two years plus team option), 5, 9, 2, 1, 3.

That order is excluding the trades and focussing solely on the signings.

If doing a trade for Splitter was an option, that would be right up there as well.

I keep wanting to talk myself into him but I can't. Just a revolving door on almost all phases of defense http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Greg-Monroe-1109/.

I don't think you resign Middleton for top dollar, have prospects like parker/giannis and go out and sacrifice offense for defense at the center spot. You'll need a really good defender at 5 with parker or giannis at the 4.

If we keep MCW, I foresee a lot of this line-up: MCW - Wade - Midds - Parker - Giannis.

I really don't like the Wade talk at all. I also don't like the Hibbert option at all either.

October 2013-

Dwyane Wade has had many battles against Jason Kidd throughout their respective careers.
But besides playing alongside Kidd on the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team, Wade said before the Nets’ 86-62 preseason triumph at Barclays Center Thursday night his fondest memories of the future Hall of Fame point guard was giving a young Wade pointers during his early years in the league. “Playing against him, I was a young guard coming in, a young point guard, and Jason would talk to me throughout the games early on, especially early in my career when I was trying to figure it out,” Wade said. “He kind of helped me out, gave me a couple of pointers … it was good. I needed that. “Then, once he sensed that I started getting good, he stopped talking to me that way,” Wade added with a smile. “But we had some great battles.” Wade, who didn’t play in the game, said Kidd helped influence his game off the ball, in particular. “It was just small pointers … knowing what to look for and certain things,” Wade said. “One thing about Jason is he’s a great teammate. He’s a guy who gets off the ball. “That’s one thing when I came in as a point guard, I needed to learn how to get off the ball early,” Wade said. “I was so used to having the ball in my hands so much as a scorer before I came into the NBA. Just small pointers, but I appreciated it coming in. “I mean, that’s Jason Kidd. To come in and get any pointers from him because he’s seen something in me was cool while it lasted.”

My view is that there is not many overly compelling options this year. Each option has their deficiencies, except maybe Marc Gasol. Should we be settling for a fit that is not ideal or should be hold our powder for another off-season and ride this one out? I know the leap in the cap after next season is a consideration, but does that justify a potentially bad fit and/or bad contract?

I'd do the S&T to make cap space for Khris, unless we're assuming they're willingly going over the cap and he's getting signed no matter what else takes place. MCW, Mayo and Henson going out for Wade is acceptable to me. Doubt Kendall stays in Milwaukee to sign up once healed if Henson's dealt but maybe he would.

I'm of the opinion just because you have cap space doesn't mean you have to use it. Maybe we can just get the larry sanders from 3 years ago back.
