Looks meh.

I've watched some NBDL games and Jarell Eddie is a good shooter. He's got this quick release ala Kevin Martin but I can't remember how he plays defense. He's purely a shooting guard though, I don't think he can play SF.

Other NBDL guys like Onuaku and Nunnally aren't really that special. Osby is borderline rosterable IMO but he's just another SF.

Is this a test for the young Pacers if they can carry this team? Because it really looks like we would see Solomon Hill anchor this team as the leader. Myles Turner if he can be a reliable big man option. Joseph Young if he can run the offense and score as the we need him to. And Whittington, if he can play more of a stretch 5.

This looks like a good opportunity for Eddie though.

Don't believe there was ever a chance he'd do summer league, as I think he has other commitments in Europe. Apparently, his tryout went ok, and he could be an option going forward, depending on what we do this summer.

Mantas Kalnietis G 6-5 185 9/6/86 Lithuania Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar (Russia)

I'd say he's the most interesting guy on the roster beyond Solo, Turner and Young. Nets and Knicks were after him last year but he had a year left on his contract in Russia. Doesn't seem a stretch that he could be the back up point guard and an interesting one at that.

Being a big Boilermaker fan, I watched my fair share of Octeus this year. He has good size and strength. He is great at getting to the rim. Not a great shooter, and not great at dishing the ball once the defense collapses on his drives. He is an above average defender though. I would not mind at all if he were to end up as our third string pg.

Can't imagine we'd go into the season with both backup pg's being rookies.

agree, but I don't think I'd call a Euro-pro a rookie and if we can keep Stuckey, he'll be a veteran option and both guard spots.

Didn't Nunally and Onuaku make it to our preseason roster last year?

Sorry I didn't say it very well. I can't see both Young and Octeus making the team.

Mantas and Young seems feasible.

Octeus was an above average PG defensively in college. His inability to shoot will kill his opportunities in the NBA.

Welp, dropped the first Summer League game to Miami. Solo was AWFUL, 1-10 for 4 pts. Myles Turner went 20/8. Trent Lockett (who?) had 10, Jarell Eddie had 16. Kalnietes did have 8 assists too.

I am rooting for Jarell Eddie to make the team. Kalnietes was decent but he also had 6 TO's.

Did anybody see the Pacers top 10 plays? Looked on there like Solo was the next James. In reality it is just that he can take it to the hoop occasionally. I still think he has a lot to prove and needs to show it here.

Kalnietis is a name I know, when I was in Latvia I saw a Lithuania-Bulgaria? game and if I recall well Kalnietis started, he impressed me, lots of effort, grit and determination and a good eye for setting up his team-mates.
Vogel is Dutch for Bird.
