If Kanters defense improves I'm ok with the money being talked about. If he remains a defensive liability the contract could be harder to move than Perks

No it won't. Offensive skills are always marketable, and their contracts will be worth roughly the same percentage of the cap.

I love the Michael Qualls signing. Presti doing his due diligence and once his rehab is done, he's going to make the league.

Reads to me like 2–4 players going out in trade to consolidate roster spots. Which we expected, but this further solidifies it.

Minimum free agent signing? Portion of MMLE? Wonder what he's getting.

This was completely out of left field. His injury means it can't even be a non-guaranteed summer league/preseason tryout deal. Do we really just like him more than PJ? Strange move all around, we were trying to clear spaces for players that we already have rights to.

Kanter will get 14/15 million and be the starting Center playing 31/32 minutes
Also playing with Durant,Westbrook ,Ibaka ,he will be 19/20 ppg .11/12 rpg,the reason why ,easy as usual defenses will be focused on Durant/Westbrook,Kanter will have so many mismatches
OKC will be lethal with Westbrook,Durant,Ibaka ,Kanter and the team defense should be pretty good with the length in teamD

Kanter didn't average 20 last season playing without KD and Ibaka. He isn't going to get more touches with them back. He also isn't going to play 31 minutes per night, our big man rotation is too deep for that. Hell, if Donovan likes advanced stats as much as it's claimed, Kanter probably won't be starting.

How do you feel of you're Dakari Johnson or Josh Huestis? They were both drafted and still aren't guaranteed a contract.

Trying to get guys down the end of the bench that won't mind being on the inactive list so much, while shaving salary. He can't be making much. If we're dropping some other players via trade we can shave a lot off the tax bill by filling out the back end of the roster with cheap rooks and vets.

May be what Presti's doing—taking a flier on a 2nd-round guy to see if he pans out. My guess is they're taking advantage of the fact that he's injured to give him a minimum deal and retain his rights, while possibly getting a decent contributor within 2–3 years. Let him rehab through the D-League and get some seasoning in the pro environment even if he's not playing.

Presti never stops rebuilding.

Qualls is out for the season, so he will be put on the IR list and will not count against a roster spot.

IDK. There's a lot left to pan out. If Presti's trying to trim tax we might fill out 3–4 spots with fringe guys and still have a solid 10 or 11-man rotation.

I didn't know that didn't take a roster spot. Makes sense—low-risk signing.

Didn't even think of that. Great way to look at a prospect then.

It looks like the tax should be 82-83 million, if Kanter can be signed for 12-13 million PJ + Novak will get us out of it. If we want Singler too hopefully that means no more Dion.

Forgive my ignorance, but don't they get non-Bird on him?

Qualls can't play in SL, it has to be a long term signing or there's no reason to do it.

Qualls tore his ACL during NBA workouts. Since he will more than likely be ruled out until next offseason, the Thunder decided to sign him to a contract (probably for minimum). However, he they would simply request a waiver, like they would on any player who was gone for the season. This is one of those unique circumstances that doesn't happen a lot, but works because Qualls is legitimately injured.

You should watch his highlights. There's an Arkansas fan on this forum I believe. He'll tell you, Qualls is a talent.

Presti is the master of out of the box crap like this.

Thanks!

I remember him a bit from watching college ball. Presti is weird.
