Are you sure the game was what you were looking forward to? For me, it was the pregame and KGJ's at-bats. It was great to see him back here, wasn't it? It would be nice to bring him back for good, but from the sounds of it, he'd rather go to Chicago if he's going to get moved and play for Lou. He's not ready to DH yet, so it's unlikely anyway...

Griffey was as great of a player to ever play the game he single handedly put baseball on the map in Seattle, and I for one will never have a bad thought about him he was not my favorite M as that gos to Edgar, but you got to appreciate Jr.

Oh yeah. As much as I was happy to hear Jr. speak and watch him bat, I was really looking forward to beating the Reds.

I'm actually going to the game tonight. Should be fun!

Yea, the excitement of Griffey is over. There should still be cheers for him, but not like last night(booing Feirdbend). Mariners good chance to win this game.

Oh, the crowd was still plenty excited tonight to see Griffey out there. I was there early for batting practice, and it was a treat to see him out there with his oldest son shagging fly balls and looking geniunely happy for the first time in awhile.

Nice job by Washburn tonight, and it was nice to hear the crowd cheering him when Griffey struck out tonight.

I got this from another board, but I'm not from Seattle so could you confirm this?

Not only has Junior gone deep twice already, they were showing bits of an interview to air after the game, and he made the following statement. "I think I owe it to myself and the fans of Seattle to retire a Seattle Mariner."

I'm not from Seattle either, but since I've been a fan of baseball, I've liked the Mariners and Jr. It'd be great to have him retired as a Mariner though, since he's kept baseball in Seattle.

I didn't catch that. I did hear an interview this morning that Junior did with the M's play-by-play announcer, Dave Neihaus, and he was asked point blanked if he wanted to return to Seattle. He hesitated, and said he wouldn't answer the question as whatever answer he gave would would either upset the M's fans or upset Reds fans.

Then again, that interview was taped before the series started, and before Junior got the reception he did. That very well might have changed his mind...

Even if he did say it, it doesn't mean he wants to leave the Reds this year. It could be 7 years from now when he calls it quits.

Sounds like he actually did say that...

He also said in his interview that he thinks playing DH would be something he would consider right around 43 years of age, so it sounds like he plans on playing for quite a while. And why shouldn't he? He's having a heck of a year at 37.

I went to the game this weekend and we need him back. It made me kind of sad to think that he left us though and to think that after 95 we never really built on that team.

I have NO DOUBT that once his contract is up in Cincy, Griffey will return to us for his final years and retire as a Mariner. His Seattle jersey will go into the hall of fame, and I'll love every second of it.

Griffey is, without a doubt, my all-time favorite baseball player. He is the sole reason I began liking this team in the early 90s. I idolized him and was amazed at how great of a player he was (and is).

I was so happy to see him back in Seattle, and even happier when he passed McGwire. Jr has had to deal with a lot of injuries, so the wonderful reception he got in Seattle (as well as his productive season this year) has been a blessing.
