I think he meant, plays like Melo. Not Melo's talent.

Just 9 years younger and not as good (yet). There is some sense that if the Knicks think their chances of winning now is slim that Harris may be the best option despite the overlap. Harris many believe is the next guy to take that step into the Kawhi Leonard and Jimmy Butler stratosphere. Being that he's been in the league for only a small number of years his absolute max is small compared to some of the crazy crazy contracts being offered ($20 million per for Milsap? lol). AND he can also contribute now. If Harris can reach the Leonard/Butler level (and he's kinda close), him and Porzingis may be the cornerstone of something better than what is now.

I also think part of it is the phrase "max money" that scares people about Monroe. Now people are seeing what actual max money is with Milsaap and it is changing their tune. Monroe is getting a 1st time max deal which is alot less than what Milsaap, LMA and Gasol will be getting.

he's a pretty poor man's melo. if you could put an actual melo at the 3 & the 4, they would give teams fits.

So Monroe's max starts at about $16 million. And doesn't Wade only want an AAV of $16 million? With the current contracts being offered/rumored, those may be two of the only fair deals handed out. Let's clear a bit more space to make this happen. Bye Jose.
