Our new number

Assuming the cap is 2 million higher than projected. Will add it all later but on my mobile currently

Lowry / Wright
Derozan / Ross / Powell
Carroll / JJ / Bruno
PF / Patt
Val / C / Bebe

Is that with Carroll making $15M flat over four years or with max raises?

$14,051,522 is the starting salary with max raises.

I'd prefer to keep Stew and give Monte Morris
I'd really prefer to keep Morris and Stew and give the great Killian Hayes and 2nd round picks

Yes, but trading Patterson for more cap space would be kind of redundant. He plays a position of need pretty well. Most likely guy to get traded for more cap space is James Johnson.

If the cap is $69M like it is thought to be, trading JJ would put the Raptors ~12M under the cap. That would be enough for one or two more players.

Potential targets:
Jae Crowder
Tyson Chandler
Ed Davis
Kosta Koufos
Patrick Beverley
David West
Brandan Wright
Corey Brewer
Omer Asik
Amir Johnson
Bismack Biyombo

Flat and this pretty much seals the fact LMA is not coming here, I dont even think he got to the meeting. Spurs kinda locked that down ahah

Hate this signing. We have max cap space to add (or trade for) a monster....and we throw 2/3 of it at Demare Carroll?

Not just that, but he set Derozan's price at about 25M.

WTF is Masai doing.

He plays a position of need but hes a bench guy not a starter.

My thinking here is if Masai was going to throw max at someone it would be a LMA/Gasol/Love etc. Throwing a max at a 2nd tier player only worsens the clubs position because then they wouldnt have enough space to sign quality bench guys. With this deal, Raps addressed a need and still have room to make a couple more additions to the roster.

Yep - we addressed a need and incrementally improved our swept-in-the-first-round juggernaut.

Okay, so I looked at the Raptors cap space assuming a cap figure of $69M.

~$59.7M in salaries (waived Luke Ridnour) and cap holds (renounced Lou Williams, Amir Johnson; included Norman Powell, Delon Wright)

So, just under $10M in cap space.

If you trade James Johnson, you're looking at over $12M in cap space left to use.

Wiz fan here, kinda having a small discussion about this on the Wiz board but does this take you guys out of the running for KD next offseason?

Keeping in mind: JV's cap hold, Derozan getting his $25 mil + all the other contracts already on the books (including Carroll's)
Bickerstaff: who's up for kickball?!!
Ed Wood: Only if it's the no-pants variety.

You don't think Masai has already talked to those players' agents, and those agents have told him that the chances of their client signing here are slim?

This is what I hate about the NBA cap. The Cavs will have ~$100 million payroll because of bird rights, while we get stuck at $69 million

Why are you so fixated with trading James Johnson? He makes so little next year while filling a need on this team (even with his butting heads with Casey) that it doesn't make sense to trade him.

Lol, time to celebrate?

It was always gonna be b/w OKC and WAS for KD anyways. He was just gonna use us for leverage if anything.

There is zero chance KD is coming to Toronto next year. Whatever cap space we have will be thrown at a role player.

He becomes a S&T chip. :D

Raptors trade: Carroll, 2016 1st pick (Tor) and 2017 1st pick (LAC)
Thunder trade: Kevin Durant

we can trade them to a team like Philadelphia with future pick (lac pick) and that will create roughly extra $12 million.

LOL just curious guys, the less teams that have cap space better chances for us, but in the end it'll probably be between OKC and DC anyway.

Good signing for you guys tho! Just think it was a bit of an overpay but can understand why

So you trade for one.

You don't give your max cap space to a role player. We had SUCH an opportunity to add someone.
