That would be the new Big 3 right there.... Even better than Kyrie, Bron, & Love.

More like we should extend Drummond before he realizes he's not winning anything here.

Celtics just signed Amir Johnson, can they still pursue Tobias?

There's a rumor on twitter from Lakers Nation that the Magic will NOT match a max contract offer to Tobias Harris.

Adding Johnson and Jerebko to Boston would bring them to roughly $57 million in guaranteed money without cap holds. They still have some room, but not enough under the cap to directly add a max contract. It's still doable with some relatively minor trades though.

Or just waiting to sign Jerebko and using his bird rights....

With the Lakers missing out on Love and LMA, we might have a new entrant into the Harris derby.

That too. But if they bring Crowder back it seems like a stretch that Boston would want Harris or Harris would want to go to Boston and compete for minutes at their crowded forward spots. There will definitely be (many) other teams interested but the Celtics seem to be fading a bit as a legitimate option.

^If Harris chooses centerless Knicks or Lakers over Detroit if money is equal, I wouldn't have wanted him anyways.

They could do a sign and trade for him and clear some of the clutter. I kinda hate the fact LA hasn't signed anybody either, I can definitely see them sneaking in and trying to throw salt in our game.

Something needs to happen, day 1 or not.

Preemptive sour grapes. I like it.

LMA could be the domino for this last group. He effects what happens with Monroe, who may effect what happens to Harris, Afflalo, Matthews, etc.

Wonder if Portland could get in on Harris. They've got money, too.

To have his bird rights they have to have cap holds. Given Jerebko's contract of 4million per year, I'm assuming the cap hold is actually more than the signing of the contract.

Can't give RFA contracts until the 9th I think I saw someone tweet. May be why we've heard no chatter.

Good point. Jerebko's cap hold is a little over $8.5 million.

But Boston also has some big trade exceptions to work with. I had forgotten about those.

So True. 100%

At what point does basketball IQ factor into these decisions? If it doesn't we probably don't need those players. That's what I love about Stanley Johnson. He actually sees whats being built at the Palace and sees where he fits and wants to be a part.

These other guys that care more about the nightlife of the city and and the color of the jersey but can't pick a basketball squad for basketball reasons... i'm not so sure on them anyway. Danny Green and Demarre Carroll don't even fit, because KCP and SJ are the future of 2 & 3. I knew we would strike out on those guys... If they chose us I would actually be suspect on them.

The two main free agents that fit on this team are Lamarcus Aldridge and Tobias Harris, because they can fill the hole at 4.

LMA is a great fit but he's in love with the Spurs and is way older than our core.

Hopefully Tobias can see whats being built and see that he fits onto a future contender in Detroit. Hopefully he uses other offers as leverage to get himself here... Like Danny Green and Demarre did to us to get where they really wanted to go.
You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.
Weaver & Casey, govern yourselves accordingly!

MIlsap is staying with the Hawks. I doubt the Magic let Tobias leave now

I think there's every possibility they don't match totally independent of Milsap.

Which is good news for other suitors of Harris. I think Orlando matches regardless though.
