So how did NJ and LA spend $100m recently but we have to clear cap?

Suns meeting with Aldridge is taking so long because they are going over how many different ways they can pick and roll the opponent to death.

Well, with Len so injury prone, it's good to have insurance and they wanted a vet. He's another nice presence in the middle.

No more Earl Barron is reason enough.

I think it is Kobe more than anything else. Guys don't want to be cooped up with an over the hill passive aggressive diva that they'll always have to play second fiddle too. I think once Kobe goes away, the Lakers will return to being a good free agent destination but because of social media, the marketing and exposure aspect of big markets such as L.A. will never be the same as it was about 10 years ago.

Even being the 2nd team for Aldridge is better than I expected.

At least from the reports I've seen Aldridge is a big fan of Chandlers, LMA wants to play PF outright, weakens Mavs and Clips(wanted him if they lost Deandre), can mentor Len, provide defense we've been missing

No that is against league rules now. He cannot sign for 5 years and get traded. They changed the rules in 2011. He only gets the max 5 year contract if he signs with Portland and stays there. If he is signed and traded, the max is four years.

Isn't that max regardless?

So basically there's no advantage to sign and trade except for us clearing cap room?

Yes. But the Suns do not have to deal with Portland. They can agree with Aldridge and wait to sign until they have shipped out the contracts of the Morris brothers and Tucker. Or they can trade the Morris brothers and Tucker to Portland. The Suns would be in the driver seat if Aldridge agrees to sign with the Suns. They would not have to succumb to giving up Bledsoe. The Suns would be in control.

The Suns probably would not have to deal with the Blazers. But if you are the Blazers - you have to look - is
Markieff, Marcus, say ARchie or Bullock and a couple draft choices better than nothing

The Morris brothers would work in Portland

Depends on the risk-reward. Does Chandler give us a significant chance to land LMA? No one here knows. If it's still a long shot, then it wasn't worth the risk.

It's like saying, "have to give props to our FO for going after LeBron" last year while they potentially passed up other opportunities. No, I think that was a horrible move. The risk-reward was atrocious.

Going after the best players should be what a FO does. If they went for average guys, then the team would be average. You're saying it's only worth it if it pans out. Not all risks pay off but it only takes one to turn things around.

The Suns best selling point is "Come to Phoenix, be THE man, we'll market and build the team around you, run the offense around you."

No other team interested in him can offer that.

And Chandler removes a lot of pressure from Len. Saves Len some wear and tear on those ankles, gives him a mentor that can mold him on the defensive end.

Price tag is high but that's the free agent market these days

Land Chandler with S&T
Land LMA with S&T
trade for Paul George with Morri, Len (gulp), Warren, Booker, Cavs #1

Bled/ Archie
Knight/FA or sneaky bring over BB from Europe
George/Tucker
LMA/ Granger
Chandler/ Amare (FA)

Mostly just crazy thinking, but if the cards fall right, just maybe.

More likely....

Bled
Knight
Granger
Len
Chandler

Twin towers PHX style....

Add in good young guards in Bledsoe and Knight
role players like Granger, Warren, maybe Goodwin, Leuer

I think second place behind GSW in the Pacific especially if theClippers lose Deandre and in the West:

Rockets
Warriors
Thunder
Spurs
Grizzlies
Suns
Clippers
Pelicans
Mavericks

But if the SPurs do not get him they already traded Splitter - the might just fall further

Him and Granger would be good veteran presences in the locker room. Not just Len but even guys like Booker, Goodwin, Patric Young of how to be and act like NBA players

Granger, if healthy and when healthy, was a solid scorer. Granted, those Indy teams were only pretty good. So somebody has to score
