Chandler going to Phoenix makes me think either the organization was off base in his interest, or they believe they have a legitimate shot at Monroe.

Or they just looked at that ridiculous 4-yr $52 mil contract PHX offered him and said, "Uhhh, no thanks...."

But..but...but Jason Kidd played with Tyson Chandler...and...and... the Jeff Schwartz connection... Surely that is worth going an extra year...


Hopefully we can put all of that to rest this offseason. I'm guessing Jason Kidd is more interested in building a winner than he is in adding buddies/players who share the same agent.

Considering the other contracts thrown out today, I don't think that's bad at all honestly. He's still pretty good if you use him right. He was doing great until Dallas brought in Rondo and moved him off the ball.

I don't think it puts it to rest at all. Particularly if their thinking it was a done deal on 2 or 3 stemmed from the Schwartz connection. There were some who thought the deal was as good as done. Obviously good that we didnt seem to try to match that offer, but the concern is still valid.

I'm not a huge Amir Johnson fan, but I would've loved to get him on that 2-yr $24 mil deal that Boston just signed him to. At this point, I'd be pretty content if we signed a veteran big to a nice 2-3 year deal and called it a day (Ed Davis? Koufos?).

Locking up Middleton was priority #1, and after already addressing shooting and the backup PG spot in the draft (Vasquez, Vaughn), a big that can provide size, rebounding, and interior defense would check all the boxes for me this offseason. It's not like we needed to make a splash in free agency, but rather people were expecting it with all the rumors flying around.

"Cap flexibility" is much more important than "cap room" IMO. People tend to wrongly assume that the two are always mutually inclusive.
