2nd year of that Amir Johnson deal is apparently unguaranteed. So that's one of the better moves of fa, along with us getting Middleton for 5 years and at discernibly below max. Johnson can make their defense even stronger with his ability to switch somewhat or at least handle the hedge on pick and rolls. And he can take pressure off Turner or Smart if he doesn't keep developing as a shooter, with his ability to stretch the floor from the 4 or 5 spot. Among the same reasons I thought that would have been the best under radar move for the Bucks.

Now it's starting to get nervy here on the big man front.

The "concern" that what, Jason Kidd is more interested in adding buddies/Schwartz' clients than winning basketball games? Is that a legitimate concern?

That the team tends to lean towards Schwartz clients because of connections and a certain trust level there as acquaintances. Ignore it, deny it, whatever you wish, but there's a enough of a pattern there to call it a concern. I'm not saying its a sky is falling issue, but certainly a concern nonetheless.

I squandered an asset? Then Hammond taught me well.

The Schwartz influence couldn't be more blatant. Without looking, we must have the most of his clients in the league, and I doubt it's even close. You can't reasonably dispute it from that. Not signing Chandler, maybe because we didn't want to go 4 years, or just didn't see him fitting the plan enough, doesn't disprove the notion. It's a sample of one. Using that to fit the opposite narrative makes it a much flimsier one. The only questions are how far does the Schwartz influence really go and overall is it a net negative, positive, or neutral.

Based on the inflated salaries, I'm guessing $13-14M per over four years.

I get that with the cap rising contracts will be inflated and clearly already are but I just really am not that keen on Lopez for anymore then what chandler got. Which is a horrible contract for him mind you. I can see Rolo getting quite a bit more though.

I would have liked Chandler, but I'm happy if not signing him indicates us thinking beyond next year for once.

I might gamble and hold out for Monroe rather than just try and make a deal with Robin to get a decent starter. I see Monroe more adding to the core, aiding our offense, and our rebounding. Also, I'm not nearly as much of a defeatist about the LA/NY involvement. He wants to sign and 2 year contract and get back onto the open market. Does LA tying himself to Kobe, or NY and that awful team really help that interest? We have the fit and competitive advantage, IMO. That's not for nothing. Although he may just wind up taking the road more traveled in the end. If so I'd start to look at trade options like D-Mo (just one example, no need to argue about its individual plausibility) rather than just going to the Koufos fallback fa tier already.

Glad we didn't ink him to that deal. I'll be okay though if we make that same offer to Lopez...not ideal, but maybe our best option if we are out of the Monroe business (if that is the case)

Yea, i'm surprised that is all Johnson could fetch in a buying frenzy market like this.

Khris Middleton at 5/70 reminds you of that?

yes it does. we got larry sanders that year too

a rolo/Monroe pipedream aside..... our money is sht. overpay our own players and sloppy seconds besides. maybe we'll get lucky again and get a Dunleavy rehab assignment kind of guy and we can enjoy him before he bolts when his rep is back intact.

Could some team please just throw the max at Draymond Green so GS can match and we can get on with that?

@daldridgetnt: Bucks, who wanted an audience with Tyson Chandler, just completed meeting with free agent center Robin Lopez, per source.
