I've been against the complete splurge all season long here, and Koufos has been my guy. With that being said, there are parts of Monroe's game I quite like, and think would fit very well here with us.

Those trying to poke holes in Monroe's game to make Hibbert look "better" are reaching. From a team standpoint, Monroe is a substantially better fit with this team as constructed. Hibbert improves on the team's strengths without addressing any of our weaknesses. Monroe goes a long way towards making us a more well rounded squad.

Not to derail the thread, but this annoys me and it makes me feel like he BS'd his mental issues.

Maybe he is just happy now too? Without the pressures of NBA life, which by all accounts he struggled with...I don't know, not happy what happened, but think it resolved about as well as possible. Now if he ends up playing with the Cavs this year on a min salary, I reserve the right to be pissed, but pick up basketball, not so much.

I almost always agree with you, but this is some serious projection.

Yeah, he's happy now that he's sitting on his ass collecting unearned paychecks, probably getting high every night.

Now back to FA.

Hibbert is a way better fit. Monroe is the opposite of a good fit. Too much usage, no range, underwhelming defender. The argument we need a low post scoring C when all 4 of our young guys plays in the post is stupid. Average NBA player, max contract, terrible fit. **** sucks when Hammonds has money to spend.

I guess I just don't understand why he even posted it for the public. Didn't he want to get away from all that in the first place? I'm probably making way more about this than it is

Still think that RoLo is most likely as I did before, but Monroe is a distinct possibility.

For the record, I'd LOVE Monroe. For dudes that think there wouldn't be enough basketballs to go around: HAHAHAHAHAH! You have got to be kidding me that people are concerned about the prospects of an awful offensive basketball team adding an offensive center, especially when that center is a great passer!

There's no doubt in my mind Monroe could play Zaza's role from last year, only difference is that he's worlds more talented. He's a willing passer.

-Middleton absolutetely can play off the ball and is probably better suited to just be an efficient sniper that keeps defenses honest and benefits from being the overlooked guy rather than having to be a shot creator. Elite 3 and D guy and 4th/5th option as far as drawing up plays or isos specifically for him.

Jabari and Giannis are going to get their touches. We could have prime Shaq and those two are going to touch the ball and get looks. The blueprint is still for Jabari to develop into a number one scoring option. And Giannis a 2/3 scoring option but maybe your best player because he can also defend, facilitate, slash. Both of these two not only can coexist in a lineup with Monroe, but would benefit from his high post passing ability.

If we're going to win a championship with MCW at point, it's way more likely that he's the last offensive option but a guy that helps with his defense and setting up others. Him getting into the lane and either finishing or getting easy looks for talented finishers: Parker, Giannis and Monroe. He'll get scoring opportunities from the running game our defense will allow but in the half court he's going to be the last option to shoot the ball. That's a good thing.

I'm mind=blown that anyone thinks we'd have ball sharing issues from Greg Monroe. Offensively: Parker, Monroe/Giannis is the majority of the offensive game plan. There's still plenty of looks for Middleton and MCW.

I'm worried about about any of those guys being too stubborn to play team basketball. 3/5 of that lineup is above average passers. 3/5 of it brings more to the table defensively than offensively.

Oh, and: Coach Kidd.

I get it, but when he took that buy out at the number he took it, I figured he just really needed to get out of that life...it could have been much much worse. Also, he is always on twitter, I think it is just in his DNA like Dudley.

or completely max draymond green and start him at "center". im not even kidding. im sure warriors match but if not him just get a physical, active guy who can shoot some and play up front. just go with that. the friggin warriors just won a title with that. its not like we don't have "true centers" that can play if we have to go big.

I'd take Draymond over Monroe 100/100 times

That's a gross over-reaction to what technically won recently in one series. If the Cavs had an offensive center who could take much advantage of Green's lack of size on the block, they'd have won, or forced a change back to Bogut at least, weakening their offense.

If anything that series displayed the potential value of an offensive, truer center like Monroe, and how they could be a real trump card in the NBA against some teams if they have a solid supporting case surrounding them.

Anyone else worried that we wait too long on Monroe and Lopez signs with someone else?

Yep, I'm wondering too if both players are trying to wait out the other so they are the last viable option left on the market.
