Good point hahaha. We are all so pessimistic round here, myself included, that we believed he signed a $4.4 mil QO on the first day of FA

I will admit I'm a little embarrassed I bought into that even for a second.

why? After the draft, I have no idea what would happen, and now the first day fiasco? I know everyone's saying, "with these deals I'm glad Yada Yada yada" fact remains, stan targeted certain guys, and failed less then 24 hours into it, getting his targets. That's not speculation, that's fact. So now, 3 of his 4 targets are gone (unless Gerald green was his secret meeting. Lmao)that quick. No pondering by the players, just gone. That means he lowballed, handled it poorly, poor presentation, or all three.

And for those of you saying, wait, remember, these contracts are going to be deals in a year, or two, BECAUSE the cap explodes.

I better wake up to better news, or my **** head will explode. Some kind of offer to a **** small forward would be appreciated stan.

SVG failing wouldn't even be the point though.

Signing the QO at this stage in the offseason makes no sense for Harris. I was suspicious immediately but I didn't want to be in denial.

The article says it became clear to Ainge that the Magic would match any contract for Tobias. I hope that isn't the case.

I'm kinda scared of getting him, if we do. He's not that good of defender, doesn't seem to get to many assist, might be a ball stopper.

I'm not in love with Harris, so if he can't be had, I won't be upset.

We definitely need some additional front court players, though. I'm hoping Biyombo on a cheap deal is one of them. As for SF, we definitely have to get someone, but there's no need to panic and overpay a chump. Our goal for next year is improvement, not championship -- as long as Reggie gets signed, I'll be in good spirits.

I am a bit torn on how to react to that report.

On one hand, if Ainge really was convinced by that, he's a pretty smart dude.

On the other hand, no team is going to admit that they wouldn't match a free agent.

On the other other hand, not a great source, either.

You all need to calm down and realise we arent going to have an official agreement with an RFA other than our own for another week. RFA's cant sign the offer sheet til the 9th and then theres 3 days for it to be matched. We arent going to be stuck locking up all that money until most likely the 12th at which point we may not get him anyway. No agreement will be made until about the 7th or 8th or all UFA options have been examined unless he stays with the magic which might be done at any time.

So we still have the cap to do this after the Morris deal?
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

If my math is correct, we have about $7 million in capspace left. Not enough to sign him outright to a max deal and Orlando would match anything under a max for sure. S&T could still be a possibility, but I don't see what Orlando would want from us.

I'd rather roll with what we have and see what we can get from the guys we got today (including Granger) instead of putting all of our eggs into the Harris basket.

Let's try to get them interested in one (not)crazy Marcus and our future 1st rounders on top of Bullock for a S&T.

My guess is it became obvious we weren't getting Harris so the Suns deal was a fall back plan. If we were seriously in the running I don't think we'd have jeopardized it with this.

Well, there's the end of that. Not quite the 4-year max for him but close to it I think. They were never going to let him get away especially after losing out on Millsap.

I would have been bummed if he went to another team, but since he re-signed its not as bad. It makes me appreciate Stan's moves a lot more. He probably got the same intel that the Celtics got prior to making all of those moves on Day 2. It would have been so exciting to get Winslow and Harris this offseason, but I guess I can live with the band of outsiders we ended up with.
