Liked the suns as kid because I was a Barkley guy but really didn't follow them closely until I moved to AZ in 2002.

Nash
Barkley
Marion
Amare
Boris (but only for the couple yrs before he got fat)

Honorable mention- the 1 season of Tim Thomas. I'm also a bucks fan and thought he would be a star but by the time he got to Phoenix I knew he was a guy who should be paid by the game. That was a contract year run so of course he was good)

I was at that game. Probably the most amazing live sporting moment for me.

Does anyone ever have Cliff Robinson in these lists? Seem to feel he and Danny Manning and even Tom Chambers don't get much love.

Same with the old dogs like Walter Davis and Paul Westphal.

Frank, where's Mo Lucas on your list?

Tom Chambers: had probably the best scoring seasaon in Suns history, 27.2 points shooting over 50%, it was fun to watch, he was on fire all season with one of the most memorable dunks ever....second to only KJ over Hakeem

Walter Davis: That stroke! Best rookie season ever by a Sun. Over 24 pts and over 50% as a rookie!

Kevin Johnson: My personal all-time favorite. Too bad his hamstrings couldn't keep up with this heart. Part of that small exclusive 20/10 club for point guards. I loved his fire and competitiveness. He revived a dead franchise and provided us, or me anyways, with tons of fun memories. I jumped almost as high as he did when he threw it down Hakeem's throat. We'll probably not quite as high as he did, lol.

Charles Barkley: Spearheaded the funnest seasaon in Suns History (imo), His personality and complete offensive game was amazing. Was just about 25/10/5 statistically. Arguably the best all round season ever from a Phoenix Suns Member.

Steve Nash: Back to back MVP's. 50/40/90. Consumate pro and leader. What else do you need to say?

Honorable Mention:

Amare: Never quite realized his rebounding or defense potential. But the most electric offesnive player we ever had. Over 25 pts two different seasons w/ 50% plus shooting. His 26 point season my be the 2nd best ever, only to Tom Chambers, but I didn't research it, so not a 100%

Favorite current player:

Lamarcus Aldridge - How's that for wishful thinking :)

One of the great memories I have of "That Stroke" is watching late Friday night broadcasts of west coast games. Brent Musburger was doing the call and Davis' jumpers were so high that Musburger would yell Walterrrrrrr as the ball left his hands pause pause pause and DAVIS as it ripped the twine.

Factoid: Many people don't know that Davis was Jordan's favourite player as a kid.

Funny you should say, as kids in the playground, we would imitate Walter with outragous rainbows shots.....they seldomly kissed iron, let alone twine.

yes sir! Great Factoid. In fact, he wanted to be a hybrid of Dr. J and Walter Davis. He chose number 23 becuase his brother was 45 and 23 was roughly half, however, when his 23 jersey was stolen just moments before a game, so he wore number 12 just one time.

Factoid: He choose number 12 becasue it was a combination of his two favorite childhood players, Dr. J who wore number 6 and Walter Davis who wore number 6. Pretty cool, huh? ......"and if you don't know, now you know *****."

It was against Orlando Magic 02/14/90. He scored 49 pts a game while wearing Number 12....not too shabby! ...

Return to Phoenix Suns
