4/44 wouldn't be bad at all for Lopez.

I was just reading how the Cavs 'had' to sign Shumpert as there was no other way to get a 3&D player. Obviously I missed him shutting down Curry early in the finals...

In a little over two years the 6ers have built one of the biggest banks of talent and future picks in the league even acknowledging Embiid as a total loss, which is not a given, and which kind of loss by the way is built into the approach. I feel like people are acting as if Hinkie has been there for a decade. He was hired in May 2013.

Short term NG deals will be the new market inefficiency.

Ainge can play a guy like Amir until February and trade him because he's essentially a mercenary on an expiring deal, or he'll trade him in the early summer to a team looking to cut $12ish million in cash.

Smart.

Smart.

Wonder if they'd take Greg Monroe for him.

Stauskas, a 1st, 2 pick swaps for two contracts that weren't that bad?

Not even that into Stauskas but three future picks coming from the category 5 **** hurricane that is the Kings... this could end up being the worst trade of all time. They'll write songs about it and make rules to prevent it.

It sure does look horrific for the Kings. They may fail to land who they want in free agency - then it is a disaster. Or, they may get Rondo/Ellis/Matthews and it is still a disaster.

For Hinkie and the 76ers - this may be the turning point transaction as to whether their plan plays off. Now they have some depth, more picks and some decent role models for Okafor and Noel. If Staukas can get his shiz together, they find outside shooting as well.

He got another pick and the right to swap 'just in case'? Can only laugh as you'd think a 1 year removed lottery selection would be enough to take those contracts. Poor Philly and their lack of 'progress'! Oh wait, that's all by design.

What a dumb trade. The Sixers just keep playing the lotto, soon they will hit jackpot.

Funny a year ago I told everyone Stauskus and McDermott were overrated. I don't like Stauskus but getting the Kings other picks is insane. Bulls and Kings are going to kick themselves for passing on Elfrid Payton, TJ Warren, and Zach Lavine.

There has to be a point where they approach a smart free-agent and say: "Look we have X number of picks we can surround you with, they are all high on talent, plus if you can persuade Y and Z to join because of our cap space you can have a Big 3 with 6 lottery talents in support."

Surely that has to land someone - otherwise they have to wait for a disgruntled star who wants to leave in order to progress or hope one of their young players turns into a superstar (which to date does not look promising).

Everyone is gonna be praising Hinkie as a genius when they land Simmons.

I have serious questions about PHI's future salary cap. By the time they are done tanking they will almost be at the time to start deciding whether to give Max deals to Noel, etc.

The other issue is that by having tons of Top 5 picks, those players are going to be looking for huge paydays as long as they are not complete busts. Will be interesting to see which top picks if any are willing to take less than the Max when their deal is up.

It would be so fitting of the Kings if they dumped a bunch of assets to clear a bunch of cap space and then couldn't sign anyone with it.

Only way they land Simmons is if they win the lottery. Nobody is trading out of the #1 pick.

Can we wait till the college season is half over before claiming Simmons is the next big thing?

Two years ago it was Wiggins then Jabari then Embiid then back to Wiggins/Jabari with a lil Randle thrown in at the begining. Last year it was all about Okafor.

Let the season play out

If there aren't tat least op 3 pick protections on the pick swaps, this trade has the potential to be an epic disaster for Sacramento. Could they really have left the pick swaps completely unprotected?

For a team with a head coach who is disliked to hated by his volatile best player, this could so easily implode and then down the road be staring at the chance of being forced to swap better draft position with Philly. All just so they could make room to try and sign Monta Ellis. Wow. Talk about the playing with fire cliche, except they are playing with an unexploded 500 pound bomb.
