Could a guaranteed 5th year maximum deal sway him into staying? Maybe. But, I still think he rolls the dice on a team that can contend right away. With all due respect to you PHX fans, as I have no axe to grind around these parts, not sure how PHX can make a better case than San Antonio.

Thanks for your input. However the Spurs are not contenders in the long-term. Once Duncan/Popovich retire Ginobli won't be too far behind. Parker might stick around however their role players will not make a difference. That will pretty much be a rebuild with Parker finishing up his final years (i.e. no play-offs)

Does LMA really want to rebuild that quickly? I just don't see the Spurs winning a title in the next few seasons. SUNS are a darkhorse and can give him long-term stability with a chance to get far in the play-offs. Sky is the limit in Phoenix.

Are you saying that the Spurs next year with LMA aren't a contender? LMA can sign a 2 year deal and see how it plays out. That is really the question here for any destination not named PDX. If we're comparing the Spurs to the Suns, then you'd have to argue that the Suns are better with LMA next year than the Spurs would be with LMA. If that is your belief, then I am not about to try and convince you otherwise. Its LMA that needs convincing.

The Spurs were contenders this year but what happened? Injuries. They had major issues because their star players were constantly having problems staying on the court. Couple that with the West getting stronger and there is the dilemma.

Apparently LMA already picked the Spurs according to Twitter :)

I can't believe I was so hyped all day, I actually thought we had a chance. I'm sure he's going to the Spurs, but damn... it would be one of a hella twist if he came to Phoenix instead.

Anyone can say sources say this this and this. It doesn't mean a damn thing unless it comes from a credible place and this one does not.

I have no doubt that SA is still the favorite, but I won't believe he already has decided when guys like Woj haven't reported it. LaMarcus supposably wants to let teams know so they can move on. He did so with the Lakers. I don't believe he'd even take the Knicks meeting and make them waste their time while other FAs get signed if he wasn't still open-minded. I believe Gambo in this scenario. I think he's going to narrow it to 3 teams. I think SA and PHX are 2 of those, and he's deciding the 3rd among the rest.

I just don't see why PJ wouldn't be involved in the meeting if he wasn't going to be moved if we got LA. He's too obvious a selling point given they were roommates in college if PJ wasn't already a given to be traded.

SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

First of all, it sucks that youre all star PF might leave, we know coz weve been there in 2010 with Amar'e.

I dont think anyone here is under the illusion that were a better team than the Spurs next year if LMA is added. However further on in the future, things could look a lot brighter for him if he signs with us. Thats what were banking on. Although personally, the 2 year deal he's pursuing makes our future less of a factor. In the end were all fans, and were just hoping for the best for our teams.

Question: How nuts would you go if Woj tweets, "Lamarcus Aldridge has informed San Antonio he will not be signing there." ?

First stop would be to Spurstalk, to drink the tears of rejection.

If we somehow get LMA and sign him to a 1 or 1+1 deal....

And we keep Bledsoe/Knight/Len/Chandler

Then we have even more cap space when LMA ops out and the cap skyrockets. Now all of a sudden, we can be a superteam.

And if LMA doesn't sign, then we better hope Keef gets off...otherwise we have no starting power forward. :(

There may be a glimmer of hope. When Amare left to the Knicks he wasn't going to a power house or anything, he wanted to be the man over there while also getting paid max money. I hope Aldridge does the same with us. :D

I was really hoping to use that if Lebron signed with us last year. But in all likeliness no big name FA is going to sign here in the foreseeable future, so...

Read through Spurs talk-- they are so bitter towards us. Their source is sh*t too so don't worry yet. Still give us a 70% chance ;)

It wouldnt be that big of a twist.

Remember, Duncan and Pop both almost retired after the season. Its been like that for Duncan after the Spurs season ends for the past 3 years in a row now. You think he's going to be here next season? I dont. And once Duncan is done, Pop is too. Take Duncan and Pop off the Spurs and what do you really have? Not much.

Suns have a decent young core in place, locked in for the next 4-5.

That's the last I ever heard anything.. Aside from Morris twins. I know just as much as you all know. I miss our sources by the way.

Yesterday, I thought LMA would sign with the Knicks (why I don't know). Today, after everything.. I think he resigns with Portland. I really hope we get lucky guys. I am not worried about tomorrow's teams. I think we will be the 3rd team on his list in order behind Portland and SAS.
