I think the brothers want to play together... Nene for the Morris bros would help this year but hurt in the Durant sweepstakes?

Well it would be tough as well as seems they've agreed to send Marcus to Detroit so they've split them up already.

That would take care of that

That said love the Dudley pick up, was hoping OKC would trade for him.

I like it too - would love if the Suns traded Morris to us as our S4 - but I don't see that happening.

Seems they would want to trade him for cap space, though he'd be a good get I doubt you'd want to take on the money next year. I still think Terrance Jones is a guy for you.

Seems steep, although Asik did get $60 million over 5 years. I wouldn't be surprised if Lopez commands a similar salary with the Spurs or Mavericks depending if they strike out with LaMarcus Aldridge/DeAndre Jordan, although I suppose Koufos is still available.

I have done some research on Miami's ability to pursue Durant in free agency. It won't be easy.

Bosh + Dragic + McRoberts + Napier will combine to cost $50M. Somehow, they're going to have to fit Durant, Wade and Whiteside (plus 4 minimum salary cap holds) into the remaining $40M of cap space. Durant alone would cost $27.3M and I don't see Wade taking anything less than $12M. So basically, Whiteside is out.

If you are Durant, would you prefer to play alongside Dragic (age 31), Wade (age 34.5), and Bosh (age 32.5), plus McRoberts and Napier? Or would you rather play alongside Wall (age 26), Beal (age 23) and Gortat (age 32.5), plus Porter, Oubre, Humphries and whomever we sign with the MLE?

Looks like the new norm. I don't know whether PJ is as good a GM as he was a coach, but I don't see signing Lopez to such a contract as proof that he's terrible either. Knicks were a mess when he arrived, and he's only been at it a year. Not seeing terrible yet.

The Knicks have made a bunch of moves that at the very least will have them back to being somewhat respectable.

A lot of things would have to go right for the Knicks, namely staying relatively injury free (Lopez & Carmelo), but I can see this team pushing for a playoff spot.

Not sure why Jackson is catching so much flack. He struck out on some major FAs and while crazy money was being tossed around he got good value on his free agency signings.

I guess dissing the Lakers and Knicks makes for some good material, but I think New York is on the right track.

Wow! What a disaster for the Clippers! Jordan leaves after they used part of their MLE on Pierce. They now have just $2M to replace their starting center!

They also dumped Hawes in that Stevenson trade. Glen Davis is now their starting center and they have no backup PF or backup C. We'll have to see if Dallas shows mercy and negotiates a S&T so LA gets back a large TPE.

Toronto will get the lesser of the Nuggets & Knicks pick (via the Bargs trade). What a stupid trade that was! Right now, I have the EAST as:

1) Cavs
2) Hawks
3) Heat
4) Pacers
5) Wizards
6) Bucks
7) Bulls
8) Raptors

Missing the playoffs:
9) Magic
10) Hornets
11) Nets
12) Knicks
13) Detroit
14) Celtics
15) 76ers

I could easily see the Raptors getting a top 8 pick next year! Luckily for us, the 2016 draft isn't looking that great.

Nate, if Pierce were to have a heart-to-heart with Doc and say "this isn't what I agreed to," would we be able to bring him back on the deal we offered and stay under the tax?

I posted this a few hours ago in the free agency thread:

nate33 wrote:Note that the luxtax is becoming an factor. As it stands now, we have a payroll of $71.2M. Use the full MLE and it's $76.6M. Sign a guy for the BAE and we're up to $78.7M. The luxtax is $81.6M (but might creep up by $2M or so). If we create and use a relatively large TPE, we could go over the luxtax.

We are currently sitting at $73.3M. We have room for Pierce, but we can't add both Pierce and a full MLE guy without hitting the luxtax.

So The players can sign their deals yet can they? So that means PP has not signed anything yet? So can he just be like. Look I agreed to this with the understanding that Jordan was going to be back, and not he's not, So I'm changing my mind. Going back to D.C.!
Nate, If we move NENE, Webby, Sessions or Blair. All 3 are either expiring or non guaranteed. Could we have enough room to bring in PP and MLE guy?

Deal aren't done until the 7th I believe.

But I don't see any way they bring Paul back. The ship sailed. He made the wrong decision. I don't see how he goes back on it now.

Just going to have to see what the LAC can do. He went home to LA. He wouldn't let his LA fans down now.

But this is not what he signed up for. It would be a sad ending. He should have just stayed here.

If it was me, I would be like yo doc, this is not what I signed up for, so I'm not coming to L.A.. Then I'm getting on the phone with E.G and I'm seeing if I can work something out to go back to D.C.

Chris Mannix: With DeAndre Jordan on board, Mavs now believe they can be a significant player for the biggest free agent prize next summer: Kevin Durant.
