Number 1 option
You know, PG's going to be a little rusty starting off. Ellis will probably be better than him early on. How will the George/Ellis duo work on the offensive end? Who will be the first option by the end of next season?

Re: Number 1 option
I think it will be Ellis. At least that's how I'm rationalizing it in my head. Getting a guy who can be the #1 guy, gives Paul more energy to focus on killing it on defense. His natural and most elite skill.
Also maybe it'll mean Paul can go to being a more efficient 45%+ shooting 18 PPG guy. Instead of less efficient 22 PPG.

Number 2 option is where it gets interesting.

Re: Number 1 option
We genuinely might be a team of 1A-George, 1B-Ellis, 1C-Hill next year. Ellis might be more of a crunch time-ish kind of guy. I also envision we might play Monta like we did Lance. Maybe he starts, gets pulled a little earlier than the rest of the starters, and then comes back in earlier and gets free rein with the rest of the bench a bit?

Re: Number 1 option
if Monta can play some one with the second unit, that would give Young breathing room. as for the pecking order, it should be whoever is open.

You genuinely see Young as the second unit pg? I am hoping we get someone else in, perhaps even Sloan, I'd not be happy relying on Young to produce to the right level until later in the season. Having said that, Sloan's not exactly set the league on fire either...
Vogel is Dutch for Bird.

Re: Number 1 option
ideally Young would get some minutes at 1 and 2 but not be first off the bench at either position early in the season. he'll have to earn his way. in fact, as a second round pick, he will have to earn his way onto the roster before we talk about 2nd unit.
I still would like Stuckey back because he is enough of a combo guard to be able to play with Young before Young becomes fully comfortable as a one. Yes, Scoot, I know that's unlikely unless we can do a Hibbert deal with someone with cap room or a trade exemption. Bird has found cheap backup guys before though. a cheap vet a la Jack or Earl W or even a healthy CJ W would simplify the rotation.

Re: Number 1 option
One precedent for a balanced 1-2-3 attack is the old GSW Run TMC team with Tim Hardaway, Mitch Richmond, and Chris Mullin. Run GMP?
I think early on Paul George will get every chance to be the guy. His natural unselfishness with the ball (with all 9 other people on the court) and George Hill's propensity for playing off-ball can potentially make the offense run through Monta, but I think Vogel wants a balanced attack in half-court sets.

That's exactly what I was thinking, Ellis comes out with 6 min left in the 1st and 3rd quarter GH plays till the end of the quarter then Ellis comes back in for the last min or so of the 1st/3rd and GH comes out, then comes back at the 5 min mark of the 2nd/4th. That's exactly the way we used Lance. Ellis would dominate the other teams 2nd units playing with, Miles, Solo, Turner and ??PF.

I think Young is NBA ready, we're gonna love that guy.

I was thinking Lavoy was the starter, Rudez at PF gives me the willies, he's pretty weak. I like your idea about a S&T with Washington for West getting Nene for 1 yr.

We can't do something like that straight up, but could as part of a larger amalgamation if LAC wants to turn DeAndre Jordan leaving into a S&T to maintain pieces. That would set into action a huge roundabout of things.

Re: Number 1 option
Oh boy now you got me thinking about a 4 team deal between Indiana, Washington, Dallas and the Clips.
West S&T, Crawford and Hibbert to Washington
Jordan S&T to Dallas
Gortat and Felton to Clips
Nene, Ellis S&T, Powell, Sessions, Washington 2017 #1 protected, 2 2nds 1 from Dallas and 1 from the Clips.
Washington would seem a better fit for Hibbert and Gortat a better fit for the Clips also it's less money for the Clips to take Gortat makes about $4 million less than Roy. Might have to be some filler here and there.
Washington does it because Hibbert and West have played together and Hibbert's expiring contract gives them more room to go after Durant in 2016, getting rid of the 4 yrs of Gortat who is 31 yrs old gives them flexability down the road.
Dallas gets their guy.
Clippers get a replacement for Jordan, not as good but what are you gonna do if you're them?
And the Pacers would seem to me to be making out like bandits. Question Mark? Are the picks to the Pacers too much?

Re: Number 1 option
I don't see any way we get any picks out of Hibbert and West. I'd be absolutely thrilled to even get one second-rounder. Washington would riot if they sent out Gortat, Nene, and a 1st-rounder for Hibbert, West, and Crawford. Especially because we pretty much tried to convince Roy to opt out and LA has been looking to dump Crawford's contract from all I've seen.

Re: Number 1 option
I wouldn't be at all surprised if Ellis leads us in scoring.
He loves to shoot.
I think we'll have a balanced attack with he and PG at 18-20 ppg, and Hill at 12-14.
The george's can bust ass on defense and "rest" for a few seconds as Monta takes over on the break. If nothing quickly develops then we settle down and work it around.
PG and hill will likely have decent percentages. They'll be able to pick their moments a little better. Monta will not need to shoot threes much so maybe he can help his efficiency as well.
Our offense will work and be fun!
The D...not so much.
We're going to remember what it's like to have dudes dunking on us again.
