Patrick Beverley
@AlexKennedyNBA: Talks between the Sacramento Kings and Patrick Beverley are progressing, according to sources. They may be nearing a deal.
Could this be linked to the Collison S&T rumors? I hope not!

Now I REALLY hope this is Rondo leverage.

S&T Beverley, huh? I wonder what the Kings need to do to get him. Trading Collison is a no-no.

Re: Patrick Beverley
But what if Rondo signs here and Collison has expressed he doesn't want to be a backup but Beverly is willing to? The Kings get one of the better defenders at PG in NBA that shoots decent from 3pt and doesn't take a lot of shots. Plus a sign and trade would retain cap space to continue to add additional players (Smith, Koufos, Bass, etc). With Beverly and WCS the Kings begin adding defensive minded players to compliment what they've got offensively. Constructing a good team is like putting a puzzle together. I can see the potential of the pieces fitting.

Re: Patrick Beverley
I'm sure the convo went something like Sac asking Houston if they intend to match and they said, "well we see you have a quality PG on the cheap!". I say drop an 11 per deal on Bev and force the Rox to match. Then move on.

So you see a Rondo/Beverley back court?
If Rondo and the Kings were close on money I'm sure a deal would have been announced already. Vlade probably offered him market value and Rondo said no.

Re: Patrick Beverley
I can see a sign and trade Beverley for DC and then signing Lou Williams.
Id rather have Collison/Beverley since Collison is SUCH a reasonable contract now, but I can see the Beverley/Lou pairing one defender one scorer.

Darren played with Paul, he can play with Patrick Beverley so regardless of who comes off the bench with Karls intention they'll both get plenty of minutes. And while I really like Collison, and would like to see that core of DC, Gay, and Cuz stick, Collison isn't the type of player who should be butthurt if he's a backup. The Kings were the only team at the time last year that were willing to give him a shot to start. He's been given the chance in the past and his respective teams were left unfulfilled. For him to poopoo a good thing if he's not being dangled would be a misstep. Just like the one West Matthews made by signing with Dallas.

I don't necessarily see it as a Rondo/Beverly back court. I see it as Rondo/McLemore backed up by Beverly/Belinelli. Neither Rondo or Beverly are looking to score much. Rondo's main contribution would be distributing to Ben, Rudy & DeMarcus with the starting lineup and Beverly has good handles and is an top notch defender that is a good option if Rondo flames out during the season. Only concern is they're both injury prone.

Collison came to Sac because he was given the keys to the starting PG spot. He feels disrespected that he played well prior to his injury and the Kings continue to look for upgrades at PG. I agree with management. Collison is an excellent back up on a great value but the NBA has so many good PG's now. If he has a good attitude whether he's starting or back up then I'm all for keeping him. If he wants to become a problem then let's move on. The organization wants to win and winning takes sacrifice from everyone.

Re: Patrick Beverley
There are no legit Collison ST rumors
Collison IMO is better and fits the starting unit
Bev is a compliment

Re: Patrick Beverley
Who know the Patrick Beverly thing could just be a sign and trade with nothing from the Kings going out. The Kings obviously have plenty of cap space to absorb the contract and it creates an exception for Rockets. Maybe the Kings are moving on from Rondo and looking at keeping Collison and adding Beverly to help man the PG spot.

This is what caught my eye... Reporter Bruski retweeted was Hou not Dal, but Bruski is clearly acknowledging..
@aaronbruski: Seemed a bit obvious no doubt. RT @OscarHazell Reporter followed up with Linking DC to Dallas. Maybe Darren dropping hints with Rondo visit
No one really knows

Patrick Beverley has agreed to a four-year, $25M deal to return to Houston, agent Kevin Bradbury tells Yahoo Sports.

Re: Patrick Beverley
Plus a Collison/Beverly PG rotation would allow them to play together. They can both play with or without the ball and would be a better shooting combination than anything combo involving Rondo. This signing would accomplish a few things the Kings need...solid PG depth, more ball handling and playmaking, more shooting and improved defense.

Re: Patrick Beverley
A Collison/Beverly backcourt is nice with Mclemore/Belli.
Now add a SF and backup big.
