I wouldn't pay either Harris or Bledsoe that much. Look at pretty much all the top teams, how many of them have Non All Star players making that much? Pretty sure HOU, LAC, and SAS don't. GS has just Lee who is a contract they hate and want to get rid of (although was at least a former All Star I think) and CLE has Varajeo who has a contract they probably hate.

And those teams have HOF players. Small market teams that aren't the 76ers will always overpay for the mid-tier stars. It is what it is. When they have a top 10 pick they have to bank they can hit a) star player who b) wants to stay in their small to mid-market team. Hitting on Gianni's and Jabari given Milwaukee's reputation as a destination landfill (I don't agree with this, I love Milwaukee) and an NBA igloo factory, is nothing short of remarkable. The rest is up to their development.

They won't overpay for mid-tier stars if they want to win titles. I would rather keep passing on them and hoping for superstars than paying big money for mid-tiers and becoming the Hawks/Nets paying insane amounts for Joe Johnson/Josh Smith/etc

isn't that exactly what the Warriors did with bogut and iggy? Over pay for mid teir guys. And they will do it again this summer with green. Hell get over paid but if they let him go the Warriors will have a much worse chance of repeating.

Your idea of hoping for a super star isn't wrong but the problem is those guys are rare and you might wait 20 years for one. Sometimes you have to roll the dice and pay the mid teir guy and hope they take their game to another level.

Bogut is arguably not mid-tier since he might be the Best Defensive player in the League. Iguodala has 2 1st team All Defensive Teams, 1 2nd Team All Defensive, and 1 Finals MVP.

Even if they are Mid-Tier, the point may be that you bring in Mid Tiers after you have your primary stars/superstars already in place. The worst thing to do is to pay big for the Mid-Tier before you have your Superstars/All Stars since they will likely be good enough to prevent you from getting the foundational player in the draft. SAS or LAC bringing in a Mid-Tier to put them over the hump makes much more sense than for a DEN or ORL to get them to 35-40 wins.

Bogut is definitely mid-tier. He is aged. Damaged goods. He is defensively wonderful. He is offensively adequate. Both Steph Curry and Klay Thompson were drafted outside the top 5. Draymond Green is a perfect example of a solid mid-tier player who excels in the GS system and with two absolute studs. Iggy is a great signing for them considering the development of Curry and Klay. Livingston was a great signing.

Iguadola and Bogut were brought on well before Curry and Klay becoming top 10 and top 20 players, respectively. You have to take a leap of faith or you'll miss a potential window. Who is to say Giannis won't take another leap - a BIG leap - next year given his accelerated growth? Our X Factor is Jabari. What do we have in Inglis? What do we really have in MCW (I hesitate to invest anything here)? None of this is scientific. Nothing is writ. It is contextual. In the Buck's case, everything and I mean everything hinges on Giannis and Jabari. Then Middleton's continued ascent. Maybe MCW (I have my doubts, obviously). Everything else is interchangeable until the right pieces fit. When to take these gambles is completely unknown. I'm thrilled to be on the ride because as we all know, the alternative is investing $100 in a billboard about 'balls'.

I should clarify something. I'm OK taking risks on the Harris and Middleton types who are in their mid 20s with a chance to improve. Paying guys in their 30s on the other hand is very dangerous.
