I envision LMA choosing Phoenix as Suns roll to a 56-26 record and good for a 4th seed in the West. More to come later, stay tuned.

I'm gonna be sad if we trade Markieff this week, but it looks like it will be the only way to get LMA and Chandler to Phoenix.

If we land LMA our most realistic scenario probably looks like this (we have $21M of cap space right now):

1. Sign LMA to max $19M
2. Sign a backup PF for the remaining $2M - Amare, KOQ, LRMAM, Scola, Boozer - yikes!
3. Sign and trade Markieff and McNeal for Chandler.

possible 3-way trade if the Mavs don't want Keef:

Phoenix gets Chandler and a 1st round pick (LAC or NYK/DEN via Toronto)
Dallas gets a TPE + a minor sweetener
Toronto gets Markieff

4. Sign a shooter for $2.8M room exception - GGreen, Thornton
5. Sign a 3rd string PG for vet min: Ish, Bynum,
6. Re-sign Knight.

Bledsoe/Ish
Knight/Goodwin/Booker
PJ/TJ/Green
LMA/Amare/Leuer
Chandler/Len

He was a pretty decent 3 point shooter. It's a shame that he wasted his best years with the Clippers and had nothing else to give afterwards. :(

With his brother gone I just don't know if he'll give it his best next season.

read my last few posts. San Antonio doesn't need to deal with them but lma needs them to if he wants to cash in next summer.

To get his full bird rights without a Portland sign and trade he need 3 years with a team so he would earn 60 mil over 3 years. But if he gets the sign and trade he could do 20 mil next year then sign a 5 year 160M+ contact next summer. By not doing a sign and trade he could potentially lose over 20mil in the first 3 years alone.

So if we get LMA then we would surely do so in a S&T?

I think the Suns have a pretty good backup plan to LMA, Chandler wouldn't have signed with us if we didn't sell him on a great vision. He said this in April of last year:

“I definitely don’t want to waste another season,’’ Chandler said before the Knicks faced the Nets Tuesday at Barclays Center. “I don’t want to waste this season. I’m not into wasting seasons. Your time is too short in this league and I want to win a championship, another one. I’m not into wasting seasons.’’

yeah probably. For all the reasons I listed it's what lma needs to have happen to cash in next summer. And ultimately the suns need to shed salary to make any deal with him happen. It can be done other ways but I don't think it will.

The money would be

4 years @ 80 million as a straight FA signing or

1 @ 20 then 5 for 160 with a his bird rights for a total of $180 million for 6 years. The response of Aldridge :D

Yes sir, this could cause bit of a hold up. Imagine this scenario playing out with the Portland GM. The GM tells Aldridge that the Suns are offering Morris, Goodwin and a pick plus a TPE and they like it as a matter of fact they like it a lot. If Portland won't deal with San Antonio it will cost Aldridge $100 million to sign straight up with the Spurs. If Aldridge is coming it will be on a 1 + 1 because San Antonio couldn't work something out with Portland.Remember everyone the only way Aldridges rights transfer is a sign and trade. The only team that can give him a 5 year max is the team who gets his bird rights. This has to be the hold up. We've seen players take a little less from a team like Ellis this year with the Pacers but we are talking about 100 million dollars.

From what i gather the suns really havent renounced their TPE's, FA players and guys like Wright havent officially been signed by other teams.

IF we still have the partial TPE from the Dragic trade, we COULD use that to bring in a player, preferably someone who's contract is non-guaranteed or partially guaranteed. Or use our 2016 First to bring in a legit player to use in a trade with Portland.

We COULD also trade for Haywood from Cleveland for maybe their 2016 pick returned. So, if we were to bring in both of that, it would be feasible to use them in a S&T for Aldridge, with minimal to no salary going to Portland.

Also, IF Wright hasnt officially signed with Memphis, and Green hasnt been renounced then something like this could work

Suns trade: Wright (S&T), Green (S&T)
Suns get: Chandler

Memphis trades: Koufas (S&T)
Memphis gets: Wright

Mavs trade: Chandler (S&T)
Maves get: Koufas/Green

I'm not entirely sure that that is possible.....but its gotta be something that the suns are looking into. We'd be able to keep all of our guys, and retain a deep bench

Knight needs to average 7+ 3pt attempts next season I think... hopefully nails close to 3.
That will help considerably to space the interior for Bledsoe and the rest.

Bledsoe at 3 attempts and 1.25~1.5 makes (per game) would be great too.

You're asking both our guards to become 40% 3pt shooters. Knight is more likely than Bledsoe to do so, but asking two guys to suddenly become two of the top 15 3 point shooters in the league seems like a bit much.
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

Teletovic and Neal would be great pickups for the bench I think.

Knight made 2.0 per at 39% last year, we just need that again or a slight uptick and we'll be ok.

Green is the wildcard - if he doesn't get any offers we should definitely try and keep him. Good soldier, knows the team and even though he's as streaky as they come, I'd rather play him than Archie...

Good idea Tastic. Teletovic had a lot of really good games last year, but he is pretty inconsistent. Neal I'm not too sure of, mostly just dislike ex-Spurs players. I wouldn't mind getting Green back, I thought he would have been picked up by now. Surprised the Kings picked up Bel before giving Green a call. Bel is a good three shooter, but Green can be a little bit of everything.

Knight can achieve 38%+ from the 3pt line... its the volume.
I'll be happy if he can be around 2.7+ 3pm out of 7.5 3pa.

Bledsoe is the tricky one, but he needs to hit 1 ~ 1.25 3pm per game... maybe 36~37% would be OK.

The modern game needs a high volume 3pt shooter to constantly pull defenders out there.

Tucker, if he stays, needs to take those 3pt shots he gets given... instead of holding onto the ball and dribbling it. One of the most frustrating thing about him. He just needs to catch and shoot.. need to make defenders think he will shoot it.

Darrell Arthur - I'd definitely go after him. Tough, good defender and even gotten 3pt range over the last couple of seasons (HORRIBLE %!). Last year he played 9 games with at least 24mins, averaging 11.6pts 6.1reb 2.7asst 1.2stl 1.0x3pt and 41/75 splits. So put up serviceable stats in about 27min per - good for a second big behind Len.

If Blake gets waived by the Nets I'd give him a look for the vet min - makes his threes, doesn't turn it over and a good solid vet.

I really like Omri Casspi's game too, but think he'd cost too much. Feisty defender and scores/rebounds whenever he gets minutes, good size at the 3 and can play some 4 too.

Neal's signed with Wizards, hadn't seen that one.

I still want Kyle O'Quinn too - but he might land a starting gig in LA or

Jordan Hill would cost too much/might stay in LAL, but I'd love him here off the bench - dude can seriously rebound if that's all he's asked to do. (Didn't realise he averaged 12 and 8 in only 27min, that's pretty efficient!)

Drew Gooden might be ok for the vet min - bounced round a lot but he's a solid vet who can suddenly make 3s too.

Dare I say...Ben Gordon for the min?

Jameer Nelson would be an ideal backup PG - he made enough threes last year to be a threat and is a good veteran presence and was still serviceable last year despite being 33.

Dorrell Wright could probably be had for the min - never really found his role on Portland but he's a good ball-handler and has size at the 3, plus career 37% from deep.

CJ Watson would be the IDEAL backup PG. Good defender, can play and defend either guard position and he's been on some really good teams.

There's heaps of useful vets out there...
