Hey all. Knicks fan here coming in peace. As you may know, we just signed Derrick to a 2 year/$10M contract. Just wanted to get your assessments of the strengths/weaknesses of his game. Is he as bad defensively as his metrics make him out to be?

Anyhow, it's been an interesting off season around the league and especially for you guys.

Hope it all turns out well for your team. Great fan base in Sacramento.

If he gets offensive touches, either as a lob target or as an iso guy he should produce some solid scoring. His 3 point spot shot came on last year too. Not a good rebounder, average defender. I don't think he's terrible on D, I really don't, at worst he's slightly below average. He can drive the ball a little. He's a pretty powerful dunker. He has the propensity to make some dumb plays at times. As a bench guy he's shown almost no ability to really help his team though. Doesn't bring many intangibles. I'd rather have Acy myself if the position is for a low usage bencher.

Derrick Williams cannot guard a chair that is nailed to the floor. But boy, can he dunks! As long as the Knicks don't expect him to do anything but dunk a basketball, he should turn out ok.
