And they'd still be thin at the middle. Let's make rumors about Len so PHX will dump his ass to the Lakers.

Oh man, Hibbert seems to be the most feasible option as the day progresses.

I don't understand the concerns on Hibbert. Legit C. Effort has been questioned but its for 1 year if we dont get anyone else. So I think better than nothing? He is just turning 29 so he can be a long term answer if he works out or at least be a trade asset for teams in need of size at the trade deadline.

Indiana is still not at taxpayer's level so I dont know how insistent they would be to getting rid of that contract by giving away an asset. In that sense, Warriors with David Lee may be the easiest get since they will be saving a lot of cash by getting rid of his contract.

Yeah, I would like Morris. Big man that can stretch the floor. He would be a contract for future years that I would be more than willing to take on. Sign Kofus with a reasonable contract.

Slim pickings out there now. When we could have had guys like Carroll, Lopez, Chandler, etc.

And we still wouldn't be assured of a playoff berth with those guys. But we would have about $166 million in payroll devoted just to them for the next four years. The lives of Carroll's and Lopez's deals combined is worth over $100 million alone. Demarre Carroll. And Robin Lopez. Let's really let that sink in for a moment.

This is why I don't understand how deeply frustrated some are. Those guys are solid players to be sure, but the contracts they were given this week are destined to look really bad by 2017, regardless of how high the cap goes. They would have only made sense had the Lakers gotten someone of even Aldridge's caliber to go with one or two or however many of those guys to have a chance at just making the playoffs, and they'd be stuck that way for years. Treadmills aren't fun.

My first option is Joakim Noah. Can never question his heart or effort, regardless of roster around him. Has that KG like effect that forces teammates to play better defense because it's just as important as scoring is to others.

Doubt straight salary dump works, but a nick young and scare for Noah is ideal for us. Doubt it is for Chicago.

Second option is Roy Hibbert. Great rim protector but a slug. Helps you against the Spurs, Grizzlies, Mavericks, Rockets. Only hurts you against the Warriors and Thunder. Not sure if you can trust his effort around a bunch of young guys and a super ear **** like Kobe. Feels like he'd go through the motions and just move on next season.

I still think it's a competitive roster as long as the youngins pan out and Kobe does go chuck mode.

NEEDS

a 7 footer that protects the paint and cleans the glass.

An athletic wing that plays hard defense that will run the break with the rooks.

A RELIABLE three and d specialist that knows that's his only role.

Russell/Clarkson
Kobe/KJ McD/brown
Gerald G/wes
Randle/kelly/nance
Noah/upshaw/black

Not really a playoff team but at least will compete and is balanced.

As much as i hate how sixers are treating the tanking sys and absorbing contracts for picks, we're even worse than them at doing this, they get multiple picks for aborbing contracts as large as Lin but all we got for that was the 27th pick. At least they dont live in denial, they know who they are, they're a REBUILDING team who will absorb just about any contracts as long as price is right. While this mgmt still think the la lure and laker brand still means anything to any FA these days.

Location. Alot easier for them to get their salary dump collection on when it's all Western Conference teams making these moves.

Diaw and Mills. Lots of experience and Mills is still young.

Warriors don't have much assets. Their next 1st round pick to trade is 2019.

Hibbert doesn't matter. It's salary absorption, so the goal is to bring back as many assets as possible. If Nene brings back more value, you go with him over Hibbert and the same vice versa.

I've been repeating what you've said and in different ways. Players like Carroll and Lopez are available in some form every year. To sign them now when the team has cap room for the future is a pointless exercise.

I'm not even a believer in signing these types when they've maxed out their value anyways. Scouting these guys when they're a bit raw, more athletic than skilled, and at a third of the price is a better proposition. Obviously it's hit or miss where one year you might produce a Trevor Ariza and another a Wesley Johnson. But you need that good coaching which the Lakers don't have now. Carroll or Lopez would be far less productive playing for Byron Scott.

Can probably cross the Suns dump option with LMA choosing the Spurs

Return to Los Angeles Lakers
